I always thought superman transcended "fashion trends". Superhero comics are pretty ridiculous so I think it's okay for the characters to reflect that. The red trunks may have looked silly to a ot of people, but they also served to balance his color scheme as well. Maybe I just need to get used to the new look but now all that blue looks odd.

The only way I want him back in red granny panties is if he goes back to wearing the Fleischer costume full-time. That's the only time they looked like they belonged on his outfit. Otherwise, trunks-over-tights is an archaic holdover from almost 80 years ago and isn't remotely in vogue anymore, so Superman might as well update his look to fit the times.

I'm sure they would change it back if they could, but legally, he CAN'T do back to the red undies. If they do change him back, DC essentially forfeits all rights to the character.

We'll see how the case plays out in the future. Five years ago, DC wouldn't even use the word in their comics presumably because of the legal battle with the Siegel and Shuster families. Now he's back to being a big part of the Superman family. The point being things change.

Sure, but I like that Superman is kind of a dork when it comes to fashion!
