It's a monster from InuitΒ mythology. It abducts misbehavingΒ children, as well as kids who wander too far out onto the sea ice.

Is that the monster that walks into your house at night then steals your child if it is not sleeping then takes it back to its lair were it then EATS THEM!!!!!! it is like a story parents tell there children to make them go to sleep. Its good to know there are people out their that tell there children bed time story about hideous monsters that come to your house and eat you. Keep the traditions of fear and torment going! Besides that it is a very nice piece! Β ^_^

I feel like I got an entirely different message from what everyone else got....

From what I've seen (and the last picture), the Qalupalik (creature thing) saved the child from drowning...
So I think this is supposed to be a heart warming story that goes past appearances rather than scaring little kids :I
