I think I used Bristol board for this one. A very bright white but it has no texture. I use lots of different types of paper and have no real preference. Its normally whatever is nearest or easily available. I guess the result is often a surprise (good or bad)

Okay thanks. I am working on portraits also. I am looking for a really smooth texture paper that takes graphite.

Well Bristol board might just be what you're looking for. Its actually a smooth thin card but high quality. You can buy it in pads or individually in various sizes. Its priced similar to decent quality paper. Good luck, hope it works for you.
