How was the fitting on the CHS conversion kit? Β Good casting?

Fitting was acceptable, took a little work, casting was acceptable as well. I bought 3 kits at the time and I was pleased with everything save the instructions, really were not any.

looks way cooler extended & without the bulky ventral turret. I might even consider a StormChicken if I could get it looking like this...

Indeed For what it is worth, as much as I disliked the BA rules in the 5th ed scene, Astorath is one of my favorite 40k Characters, that dude has one shitty job.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-18 02:09:57 +0000 UTC]

Why do you hate our rules?

Commanding the Death Company isn't that shitty.
What about Tycho, Dante, and the Sanguinor?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-18 03:45:43 +0000 UTC]

Astorath's fluff says he has to kill marines who fall to the black rage and if I recall correctly he can sense this in 'any' marine not just Blood Angels. He is an awesome character with a very crappy job.

Furthermore, I hated the BA rules for the same reason people hated GK's at the end of 5th ed, GW cannot balance the game at all and some books cast a huge shadow on others, BA's did this to codex marines badly in 5th. I am sure when they get their 6th ed book they will once again make us look like crap.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-18 16:27:18 +0000 UTC]

He is only supposed to kill marines whose Black Rage drives them insane, not just normal victiums. Look at Lemartes for example. He's had the BR for almost a century.

Well, normal Codex Marines have access to certain things I wish we could use.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-18 18:07:18 +0000 UTC]

We currently have access, the BA Baal predators are nice. Lemartes is really cool as well, I simply mean that he has to bring honorable death to marines every day, kind of seems depressing but given his job he deserves some level of respect.

Totally forgot Lemartes, the fact Astorath refused to kill him (and how it kind of pissed some people off), really interesting story.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-18 21:13:46 +0000 UTC]

Baal Predators, Furioso Dreadnoughts, Librarian Dreadnoughts, Descent of Angels, Death Company, and fast vehicles.

Lemartes is a good man, for a crazy guy.

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-18 21:51:49 +0000 UTC]

Until their 6th ed book, their librarians will probably suffer the same fate as everyone else' librarians, random freaking powers.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-19 21:11:37 +0000 UTC]

I agree. I hate that. I understand rolling for the psyker disciplines, but why for the codex powers?

Do you like the Blood Angels at all?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-19 23:39:24 +0000 UTC]

The chapter? Sure, they are interesting, the rules? Not so much, I am always in favor of balance. I want to get beat by the player not the newest book, right now BA's aren't the top tier but next year when the BA and SW books hit I am sure Codex Marines will be at the back of the pack again.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-20 21:02:01 +0000 UTC]

Don't sell yourself short. Like I said, you guys have access to things I wish we had: Thunderfire Cannon, Storm Talon, Land Speeder Storm, Predators with Lascannons, and now Centurions and Grav-guns.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-20 21:19:31 +0000 UTC]

TFC, yes, Land Speeder Storm (crap, better now that it is a DT for scouts only), Storm Talon (I bet you get something similar or BA specific, DA's did), You get predators with Lascannons, Centurions are "ok" however grav-guns were our only real 'new' shiny that anyone cares about. They are situational at best and are nothing compared to the AoE FNP your Blood Chalice's give (even your command squad does it and ours does not).

I am positive when the new BA codex hits (as well as the SW codex) the Codex Marine book will be obsolete just like it was in 5th edition in comparison.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-21 17:41:22 +0000 UTC]

Our Sanguinary Priests are awesome. I field a few of them. But Saguinary Noviates are not to great.

PS: Sorry for being like this, but we don't use command squads. Each company had an honor guard, with Dante's and the Saguinor's Sanguinary Guard being the best of them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-22 01:38:28 +0000 UTC]

Your honor guard is your 'command' squad, codex marine honor guard are different than yours. Basically your entry is almost the same as our (5th ed) command squad with the exception of the fact your apothecary (priest) is better.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-22 03:00:22 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that was the point I was making. The Sanguinary Guard are the equivalent of codex marines honor guard.

Still though: Sanguinary Noviates are not as good as Saguinary Priests.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-22 06:38:06 +0000 UTC]

No but your Noviates are better than standard apothecaries, my point is we have 'one' FNP model in our army and it affects 'one' unit, your 'command squad' equivalent has an AoE FNP even though he isn't an IC.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-22 16:30:52 +0000 UTC]

You make valid points my friend, but remember, we are Battle Brothers. Just get a small detachment of BAs with a Sanguinary Priest. Don't bother with the Noviates. At least you can give the Priests special wargear as well as a bike, jump pack, and/or Artificer or Terminator armor.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-22 18:24:14 +0000 UTC]

FAQ my friend, your priests cannot give FNP to 'anyone except models from Codex: Blood Angels.'

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-22 19:12:52 +0000 UTC]

Dammit. So much for that plan. Still, go with the Priests.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-22 19:22:18 +0000 UTC]

Lol I play codex marines the only reason I'd ally with BAs is to use their fast tanks and stuff, not much of a reason to bring a priest that won't benefit the primary detachment.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-22 19:29:10 +0000 UTC]

Put him with whatever your BAs troop choice is and equip him/her with artificer armor and a jump pack (if the troops are Assault Marines).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-23 01:27:18 +0000 UTC]

Easy kill point/first blood, better off using the priests when you are running more bodies.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-23 18:07:24 +0000 UTC]

What do you use for your troop choice?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-23 19:01:02 +0000 UTC]

Me? I don't play blood angels, however if I did, I would want to maximize the points invested in a priest by having multiple units that would be under the affects of his FNP (which I believe is 5 or 6 inches?)

To run BAs as an ally and dump 50+pts on one model to go with a 10 man unit seems like an easy kill point(s). If I was running BAs as my primary force and had that priest attached to unit A but in range of unit B and C so that everyone was getting FNP then he really is giving a return on his points.

I play Codex: Space Marines. My Troops are typically tactical marines though I have two units of scouts. Because we cannot benefit from the BA FNP and we do not have apothecaries that can work on 'any' unit there really is not comparison.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-23 23:23:09 +0000 UTC]

I know you don't play BAs, but you said that you use them as allies. The range is 6. Brother Corbulo's range is 12 though. I usually run two. One with my defending units and one with my Sanguinary Guard (equipped with Artificer Armor and a jump pack).

I use tactical and assault marines as my troop choice with Death Company marines as the other troop choice. The larger portion of my army is in reserve though (a lot of outflankers and deep strikers with DoA).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-23 23:32:55 +0000 UTC]

I ran allies before I sold what I had however I ran them for their armor, fast razorback with a librarian, Baal predator (fast), Vindicator (Heavy), Auto-Cannon dread (elite).

jstncloud In reply to BloodAngelsCaptain1 [2013-10-24 05:01:20 +0000 UTC]

No, that would be your furioso, I am talking about a standard dreadnought.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodAngelsCaptain1 In reply to jstncloud [2013-10-24 15:15:19 +0000 UTC]

Our normal Dreadnoughts are a Heavy Support choice, the Furioso is the elite choice.

Aaah my mistake, might have been the furioso then, been over a year since I probably played with BA models.
