I would totally want to be part of that team. But wearing all those clothes could take time.

LOL, yeah... these guys were suppose to be a bit more ceremonial than regular guards.

Cool concept I admit, but maybe it's just me feeling that this could be more "asian-nifed".

Yep! The concept was for a City Guard, the other one I did is more of a Soldier/Infantryman.

Wow man, that design is just gorgeous. Even though you say it's "Asian-inspired," very few elements have been transferred verbatim. That's one sign of a strong design. I like how the bulk of his upper body is offset by the strong vertical lines of his hair, shirt and tabard. That faceplate is stunning; where/how did you come up with that? It reminds me of some Celtic helmets, in a practical sense.

Thanks! The helmet was primarily inspired by two things: Chinese masks (made into a half-mask for practicality) and British ceremonial tall helmets.

what a boss helmet.
Never was a fan of asian soldiers tho. Mongolians and ottomans were the most I could take. This looks pretty great tho.

Lately, I've been looking to non-western cultures for armor/visual reference... there's so much inspiration out there, especially in more obscure countries. Check out this Polish Winged Hussars: [link]

Cant imagine what advantage that would bring. Maybe they sought to kill their opponent with sheer awesomeness.
I saw a picture of some Swedish cavalry from the medieval times. They looked quite... polished.
I find that many of the middle eastern warrior castes had impressive armor as well (not asian tho). Like the dome shields and scimitars. They were favorites of mine before germanic armor replaced it recently.

Why do you consider middle eastern and "germanic" armour as "impressive" but exclude "asian" armour from that list ?
I find that incoherent, because brigandine armour, the most "refined" armour in late medieval to pre-modern times, originated in East Asia.
Look for the "Evolution of Chinese Armor" vid series on Youtube.
There may be armour designs that you have not seen before.

It may be more advanced, but I still do not like the aesthetic aspect to it. The style does not sit right with me.
It's the same with the ancient architecture in that part of the word. I just don't like it.
But, I will look for that video all the same. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks! Yeah, I definitely did not want to incorporate just one influence, and there are so many interesting visual cues from that part of the world.
