Done up for a quick art battle over on penciljack - [link]Here's my newest take on the Thundercats. I hear tell that they've got a new series out - I'm dying to see it. Anyone got any opinions on it (the series or my piece - lol)?

With most cartoons from our childhoods. My Mom would sit and watch while I was watching and say, "How can you watch this silly stupid stuff?" I thought she was crazy. Watching them now as an adult....she kinda had a point! LOL!
It's interesting how much more things are now written with adults in consideration. More complex plots and character developments. The new Thundercats is no exception. I like how the Thundercats aren't necessarily the good guys they think they are. The mutants have a legitimate beef with them. (Which allows them to be manipulated by Mumm-Ra to a degree) Their anger is understandable. They haven't explored that aspect of the Cats reign beyond the first couple of episodes. I'm looking forward to them getting a view of life from the perspective of the lizards soon.
The life in a day aspect of the latest episode was very creative as well.

Cool. Very reminiscent of the old series. Ah, the good old days. When a cartoon could make no sense and still be popular.

Yeah, I've been watching the old Transformers and GIJoe. Pretty cringe-worthy at times.

The old Thundercats was no prize either. 
The Wily kids were as young or younger than Lion-O and he's the only one who grew up on the trip? There's more like that but I'd hate to ruin my own childhood reminiscing.
Oh, and on GI Joe, notice how no matter how big the explosion, everyone always managed to jump out of aerial vehicles with a handy parachute?

No Wily Kit and Wily Kat? Ah well, those two suck anyway! xD About the new series, hope it will be good just like the He-Man series of the 2000's. Loved that series alot! Hate the new Transformers shows though, they make it too damn kiddish.... errrr.... but at least they don't mess up on how awesome Starscream is.

The series premiere gets a 10 out of 10 from me, but then again, I never saw the original, and I don't have that much of a reputation to be critical. XD But I loved the premiere, particularly how they introduced old Mumm-Ra... Did not see that coming. ^^

The new series looks pretty tight. Looks like the kind of anime that Rough Draft pops out. I didn't see the Cat Crawler or Panthro in the trailer.

the pieceis good.
and as for the series: its very exellent. revamped and highly detailed. though there ae some minor dferences (snark doesn't talk, and Lion-o & Tygra are brothers) It sticks very well to the original storyline. i like the style ofboth this pic and the series. so yea that's what i gotta say

I got about half way through the premiere with my boys this morning and I like it. I grew up loving this cartoon but people are overly nostalgic about shit. The stuff they changed makes more sense, and it's nice that SNARF doesn't run his annoying mouth the entire time. He just looks cute and scurries around.

It really WASN'T that bad. Aside from ..well some weird plot changes with the characters - I thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course nothing can replace the old ones (as soon as I finished watching the new one I had to put the old one in xD)

The new series is indeed a reboot. The artwork is more of the homogenized, anime-ish stuff of recent years like G.I. Joe Renegades but I did enjoy the first episode.
