well goth is just a style of dress you can be gothic thinking aka likeing dark side of thing more then the happy things you dont need to call yourself anything anyone can like anything they want

Goth is not just a style of dress. It's actually a subculture. There is a ton more that goes into it rather than dress.

Goth is a music based subculture that evolved from punk in the late 70's to early 80's. Gothic bands include but are not limited to Alien Sex Fiend, the Bauhaus, Siouxie and the Banshees, and the Cure. Bands such as Evanescence, Marilyn Manson, Korn, and Slipknot aren't goth in the slightest but commonly mistaken as such in media today. Goth is also a mindset. Goths typically have a love for all things dark and spooky. They love classic novels like Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, or Dracula. As for dress, goths use their dark fashion sense as a thing of self expression although dressing goth won't make you goth. There are several styles of goth ranging from Cybergoth to Victorian.
