Aristotle once said,'A corpse is repulsive, but the painting of a corpse can be beautiful.'
And I say,
'A pimple is repulsive, but the painting of a pimple can be beautiful.'
It's the magic that keeps me practicing on hyper-realistic portraits!

in fact all things can be beautiful in a painting if the painter want to show it like that. But an artist can show things or people very bad and not beautiful. Imagine an exhibition paintings or sculptures of corpses and just add the odor of it in the room, it will be more realistic and maybe the painting will be seen with another glance.
But I agree with you and Aristote, The painting is a great tool to show or imagine the life better.

I like the fact that you paint those small details. I've seen some say things to the effect of, "it's unbecoming to the portrait", but I think it shows the honesty and integrity of the artist if they include such details. Besides, blemishes aren't bad things. Has no one heard of the Persian flaw?
