Yup, as you may or may not have heard, Robina Huang is on leave as she is now expecting a child. Taking her place temporarily is the new Bard, Isabella St. Coeur, or Izzy for short. Just like Robina, Izzy will have access to the Harmony Dimension, which grants her the use of any enchanted musical instrument that her mind can imagine, each one with its own special power. And she will be working as Jack Hellzone's new partner, during which he will have to learn the hard way to be careful what he wishes for, but we'll get into that more later.

Izzy's debut story: The Bard: Leave“Okay, Robina, you called this meeting,” Outrun declared as he and the rest of the Hexagon, all wearing their costumes, took up seats around the table in the main meeting room. “What’s this all about?”The Bard inhaled deeply through her nose, looking from person to person. She’d practised exactly what she was going to say to them in a mirror at least a half a dozen times. Each time, she did it slightly differently, preparing for anything they might say or do in retort. But now that the moment was here, she was having trouble saying the words.After a few failed attempts, Robbie finally let her shoulders slump and explained simply “...I need to leave the Hexagon for a while.”Starslip blinked in shock. “You’re…leaving? Why?”“...Um, I guess you could kinda say that I’m on medical leave,” Robina explained, twiddling her thumbs. “In fact, I won’t be doing any heroing of any sort for a while. Could even be a year.”“Whoa, WHOA!” Jack exclaimed in disbelief. “What the hell could be so serious you gotta quit being the Bard for a while?!”Knowing the moment she was most terrified of was here, the Mystical Minstrel looked her partner in the eye and replied quietly “...I’m pregnant.”At that point, it was as if Jack Hellzone was completely frozen. While everyone else had slow, subtle reactions to this news, the Mad Toku Hero was simply immobile. Not a single part of his body appeared to be moving at all, as if he was left entirely paralysed, a fact that, coupled with this revelation, made the room all the more awkward.“...Y…You’re PREGNANT?!” Cassie repeated, dumbstruck. “How?! When?!”“I-I really don’t wanna get into that too much,” Robina answered. “And the father would rather remain anonymous.”Hearing this, Jack finally regained his mobility, slamming a fist down onto the table. “Who is he?! Who did this to you?! Because I will track him down and hang him by his balls for leaving you a single mom like this!”“It’s not like that!” Robbie explained quickly, not foreseeing this particular reaction. “He was…just someone doing me a favour, that’s all. He gets me pregnant, and then he doesn’t have to be involved. No strings attached.”“But I thought you said before you didn’t want—” Hellzone started to point out.“I lied,” the Bard interjected, her eyes slightly downcast. “I…I didn’t know if this would be a real possibility. But, then the father said he’d do it, and I knew I didn’t wanna wait around for years, so…well, here we are.”“Now that it’s for certain, you should probably have a word with him,” GD pointed out, looking more than a bit stunned himself by all of this. “Make sure if there’s anything else one or both of you might want.”“I plan to,” Robina replied with a very slight smile.“So…that is it?” Zenith Woman inquired, looking highly conflicted. “You are leaving, just like that?”“Well, I mean, I still live here, so it’s not like I’m not going to be around,” Bard reassured her friend. “Honestly, I kind of need to stick around. See, after I told the White Fire Agency what was happening, they insisted I be available to continue giving my fill-in additional training.”“Wait, your fill-in???” Stanley demanded, baffled.Jack nodded, still looking very blown away and in a daze by this news. “Y-Yeah, everybody on our level in the White Fire Agency has somebody that they work with and train in case something happens wherein they need to take our place. It’s kinda like an understudy for mages.”“I’ve actually asked my fill-in to report here as soon as possible, so that you all can get to know them right away,” Robbie carried on explaining. “I mean, it’s your call if you want them to take my place on the Hexagon too, but…well, I just don’t wanna leave you guys down a member for nine months minimum, even if they are just a temporary replacement.”The Mad Toku Hero let out a hard sigh, rubbing his temples. “...Robbie…Look, I don’t wanna get too sentimental and shit here, but…yer kinda askin’ a lot of me here.”“Jack!” Cassie hollered, more than a bit angry with her teammate. “You think you’re going through a lot? She’s pregnant!”“I know!” Jack yelled back before locking eyes on his partner’s. “...You’re gonna have a kid, and you’re leaving the team, and I wanna be supportive as fuck, but…God, so much is changing!”Robina nodded. “...I know. I’m sorry, Jack, I should have told you what I was planning, but so much was happening all at once. I thought I might have more time to figure out the right time and place to tell you. Except…well, I honestly don’t think that I really thought it would take so easy the first time we tried.”The Jade Thunderbird cleared his throat, straightening out in his chair a little. “Well…sometimes these things take a long time to make happen, and sometimes they don’t.”Vyx furrowed her brow slightly at Green Defender before turning her attention back to her housemate. “...Robina, we are all thrilled for you and this new chapter in your life. But, I would be lying if I said that I was not sharing in at least some of what Jack is feeling.”“I know,” Robbie replied with a bittersweet smile. “But, like I said, I’m not going anywhere, and once I’ve had the baby, I’ll be working to be ready to get back in the field right away. And, until then, my fill-in has my every confidence. Trust me, they’re gonna do great.”“Yeah, but…I mean, will me and them work alright?” Hellzone asked, sounding a bit pathetic.“Jack, I thought of you most of all when it came to choosing my replacement,” Robina admitted, surprising her partner. “You’ll make a good match, you’ll see.”[Excuse me,] the group heard ZUUTS interject telepathically as the droid entered the room. [We are receiving a transmission from the White Fire Angency’s headquarters. Apparently, there is someone who is awaiting transport here?]“That’s them,” Robbie explained, getting up from the table. “I’ll go show them in, and you can all meet them.”The rest of the team nodded in agreement as the Mystical Minstrel took her leave, Outrun sighing hard and folding his arms. “...I can’t believe this is all happening so quickly.”“I know…” Jack replied, leaning back in his chair. “On the one hand, I wanna find the guy who knocked her up and give him a solid kick to the face…but I know that, if she was willing to go THIS far, it’s gotta be something that means way more to her than anyone coulda ever thought.”Starslip nodded, resting her chin on her fist. “...Well, if the father isn’t gonna be involved, then maybe we should all lend a hand however we can. Trust me, becoming a parent? Not easy.”Vyxwyndul nodded, glancing over at Green Defender as she spoke into his mind [I will keep your secret if that is what you and Robina wish, but I hope that you intend to assist more than just in the conception of this child.] To her immediate relief, the Celadon Ranger looked at her out of the corner of his eye and gave an incredibly subtle nod, just enough for her to notice.“Look, this is going to be a big change, but I’m sure everything will work itself out, as long as we stick together, don’t panic, and do the best we can with this new situation,” Adam declared. “Just like anything else we deal with.”Everyone else nodded in agreement just as the door to the main meeting room opened again. The team looked up as Robina entered with another woman in tow. She looked to be in her mid-twenties, had long raven hair, and like her predecessor, was also of mixed heritage, having some Japanese and Caucasian traits to her. She was also very voluptuous, wearing a tight and light blue dress with a pink corset, a pink cape that clasped over her bosom, pink gloves, blue and pink boots, a blue domino mask, and a blue hat with a pink feather stuck into it.“Everybody, this is Isabella St. Coeur, but she prefers Izzy,” Robbie introduced. “Izzy, this is the Hexagon.”Izzy smiled and waved warmly, only to stop as her gaze landed on Jack, at which point she held a finger in his direction and let out a scream, causing him to slump his shoulders and mutter “Yup, and here it comes…”“...Oh my God, are you a Kamen Rider?!?!” the new Bard cried out, the corners of her mouth stretching out to form an excited smile.“...Okay, that NEVER happens,” Hellzone admitted before his new partner suddenly rushed in front of him, her face inches from his visors.“That’s so awesome!” Izzy explained, bouncing in place just enough to make her breasts bob up and down. “My dad used to be a suit actor for this old toku show, and now he works as a stunt coordinator! Ever heard of him?! Mitsuru Tajiri?!”Jack’s jaw dropped so far he was sure it’d break out of the bottom of his helmet. “Tajiri-san’s your dad?! Dude, I fuckin’ love his work!”“I love your suit!” the Voluptuous Virtuoso observed, looking the Mad Toku Hero’s costume over. “Very Halloween, and well-balanced black and orange.”“Yeah, love yours too,” Hellzone admitted, making Izzy blush slightly. “Really rockin’ the Revice colours.”Robina’s eye twitched as she watched the two go on, very slowly leaning in close to Zenith Woman, making the alien peacekeeper giggle by whispering “...Is it weird that this working better than I hoped is making me feel just a teensy bit jealous?”
