Here in my country, we place flowers and ribbons tied to light poles or trees closest to where accidents like that happened. When I was younger I used to wonder why there were gifts of flower baskets scattered everywhere. There are so many of them all over the city.

I remember seeing the Jizo statues when I was in Japan, and thinking that there must be so many stories behind each one. this photo has a sort of artbook/documentary feel, presenting the evidence. thanks for sharing this.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jyoujo In reply to becca-chan-x [2010-07-28 10:32:16 +0000 UTC]

kinda of.
it's because there was some accidents ( obviously )
in that spot and, they put the mirror to help people to see others cars coming ...

I like Jizo. This is a cool shot. I love the random shrine in the middle of the road and how everything's just built up around it like it's a piece of the landscape. I guess any place is a good place to stop and pay respects.

kremlin-dawn [2010-07-27 03:30:11 +0000 UTC]

This is beautiful! I love the feeling of this shot - how the shrine is front and center in the picture but surrounded by city streets.
