Does anyone else find it sad that in just about every single apocalyptic or dystonian Marvel story Spider Man is one of the first to die. The only ones where I can think of that he DOES survive are the ones that he is the main character, like in renew your vows.

I would say this only happens because Spider-Man is a personification of Hope and the writers of those stories are trying to convey that hopeless feeling, so what Spidey dies, all hope dies with him.
