I'm submitting something, like I promised. I had less time to work than last time, so it turned out less fancy, and I dont got any ideas for background 8D;; So there's not really anything.My word this week was the root word, "am," meaning love, and though I wrote it on the bottom of the page, it got cut off by the scanner D:
Bird featured in this one is a Pink Dove. They are a subspecies of White Doves. And basically, they look like White Doves with a pinkish tint. :D I'd love to raise my own.
Originally, this picture was going to come out more valentines day ish, by I love to draw holly because they are easy to draw, unlike roses, and then it started to look Christmaslike.

Guuur...took like two hours to do everything D: From thinking of something to draw for my word, sketching, inking, erasing, and coloring.
oh noes I have school tomorrow :U

I haven't seen one before, but they must be pretty if they're related to white doves. :'D
I'd also really love any type of dove for a pet... they're usually a bit skittish around people, and don't like to be petted, but you can train them, at a young age, but gently stroking their back/wing feathers. <3
I read that in a magazine somewhere. o3o
And nice pen/marker strokes, they look smooth and clean, especially the marker ones in the background. <3
Though I wouldn't really call it simple; the background has a lot of texture and colors incorporated in it.
But just a bit of critique, maybe make the focal point more centered next time?
My eye kind of wanders a bit, between the red holly berries and the pinkness on the bottom, when looking at the girl and her dove.
If course, it's obvious that the girl and the dove stand out, but if you make the colors in the background softer or blend with the focal point, it may make the eye attract to the girl/dove more than look around the background.
It's probably too late to change that now, but just a tip for next time. ^^
