Akiko Wakabayashi is one of the most internationally beloved veterans of the Godzilla series, having the particular distinction of being one of the many Bond girls as featured in "You Only Live Twice". She appeared in King Kong vs. Godzilla in a small supporting role, Dogora as a mafia moll, Ultra Q and Ultraman, and most notably and fantastically in Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster as Venusian (or Martian in the American cut) princess Salno, the prophetess foretelling the arrival of the most beloved Godzilla enemy ever, Ghidorah.
Miss Wakabayashi stopped acting in the 70s, denying the world a long career in movies but what she did in the movies left a mark forever in the East and the West. She was like a Japanese Audrey Hepburn, slender and beautiful but also enchanting like a sultry angel. She's still with us and hopefully living a peaceful existence in Japan, but I would certainly die for a chance to meet her and let her know how much we Western fans adore her work.
