a lot of individuals rely on art either as their income or as a secondary income to be able to afford the things they want or even need, which is why, I believe. while it's not convenient if you don't wish to spend money, it's convenient for artists. the only reason why I could eat while I was unemployed was because of selling art for money I could use to eat. all situations are not the same of course, but, everyone has their wants and needs and money helps very much so for most individuals

not necessarily. I've seen artists who weren't popular sell their designs like crazy and artists who are popular have their designs not sell. you just need the right audience, if you will.
