Description
I knew I'd have some work ahead of me on this one, the sprite is... pretty hard to parse. Very elaborate, just a pile of spaghetti. And on top of that, it has two colors to show what mode it's in, so I got a little creative with that. Beyond that it was just a matter of breaking up colors, adding enough contrast, trying to show different textures with shading, and a whole lot of copying and pasting stuff mirrored horizontally..
Considering this thing is filling a similar role to Gohdon, just testing Link for worthiness, it's crazy how much it looks like a psychotic bloodhungry undead totem witch god. I guess there's no real solid information about where it actually comes from, right?
It's also funny how the original sprite was clearly fitting into a rectangle (though at that size I'm not sure it needed to? Not sure about NES limitations) and I sorta had the same issue here, wanting to fill as much space on a canvas as possible. Drawing huge outstretched wings and then a tiny little body simply wouldn't do.
