I get the feeling you're younger than me...which isn't a bad thing! Just... I literally lived through the creation of the internet and by 2008 the internet in general and Google more specifically was pretty solid. By then it definitely replaced print research, and was common place to use. Also, youtube was around for 3 years, and big for 1 by then, and facebook was a thing.
Do you remember the days of using command lines to play games, ask Jeeves and Oregon Trails, and Albino Blacksheep??? *trying to gauge your age*

nope, lies.
google has hardly ever helped me, nor do i expect it to in the future.
i needed google to get some renaissance info for my story, for tutorials on drawing fat people, for certain time period's clothing styles/cultures/building types/etc, and for many more things.
and google failed me.
