Description There it is - extremely fast work as for me. Probably because I had a clear image of the dragon in my mind. And I really like the way it looks It was ready in about three days, but had to wait till now, because... I couldn't find the right font on my laptop and needed to 'meet' my PC again xD
Myself, I dislike the common idea of completely 'bald' Imperials. This breed, as the name says, should look royal-like. And 'bald' dragon has no royal look for me. Also the thing about the wings - most people seem to pay no attention to the fact that they resembled fans (it was written in the first book so maybe people have forgotten it...).
And drawing the stages of their wings' movement when hovering was quite tangled but funny (changed the idea at least twice).

"bald"?

Yep. Many ppl draw Celestials with mane/crest/spikes and whiskers and Imperials with... nothing. Like shaved rat... Completely bald and no feel of royalty they have in name.
So I let my Imperial have spikes and horns.

And, I think you've just inspired me to re-read the books, and do my own interpretation

Thank you!

Doesn't the book say they're bald?

Kalia24 In reply to TheLOAD [2011-10-10 06:24:59 +0000 UTC]

Don't remember that now in fact.
Only thing I can recall is that they don't have ruff and tendrils like Celestials.
But I guess it's not described anywhere that they're completely bald.
Nevertheless - as I wrote in description - I think that Imperial dragons should look royal and bald dragons does not so

I'm fine with bald dragons, but to each his own.

The imperial and the celestial are the same thing, only one is dark blue and one is black, and one has divine wind.

Imerials' colours varies from dark blue to black (that's why sir Edward Howe mistook Temeraire for Imperial).
And Celestials have the same body shape AND ruff and tendrils on their head when they grow mature.
What more - they even have different names in Chinese and I guess the finest dragon breeders in the world knew what they were doing.

So they're a bit more different (they're not the same).

My theory was that Celestial's are a type of recessive mutation in Imperial dragons.

Kalia24 In reply to TheLOAD [2011-10-10 06:12:59 +0000 UTC]

Maybe.
Or maybe it's just a strongly recessive feature (set of features in fact) - like blue eyes among humans.

That's sort of how I figured it, since two imperials can have a celestial seemingly out of no where.

Awesome! I love your dragons! The muscles are wonderful.

Also, I think you meant 'bald' instead of 'bold'...? One means no hair/nothing on their head, and other means having no fear.
