Fear. Yeti's mind was flooded with fear, and no matter how much he tried to push it to the back of his mind, it wouldn't go away. He had never felt such mortal fear as he did right now, something the immobilised him down to his bones, turned his hooves to stone and flooded his mind with run. Run away. Turn away and don't look back. This was not his battle, not his place to try and save the world from whatever creature had been trapped inside the feather.
There he stood, in place, looking at the thing that had been trapped inside the feather, and was now making headway towards him and the others. He was surprised to see himself surrounded by other Boucles, some he had once seen in passing, others completely new to him, but all of them seemed to share one thought; fight. Fight this monster. Defend their shared homelands. The air was electrified, rather literally, as magic flowed through everyone and he could feel it too. It was coming from the ground underneath his feet, running through his veins and reaching every single part of his body. The magical flow made him feel more empowered and less alone, and it was if a spool of yarn had started to unravel inside. Should he try to join the others after all?
Next to him was a friendly-looking, smoke-coloured stallion, who was full of confidence. He didn't seem to think twice about charging the beast with his electricity magic attacks, only retreating to avoid the beasts attack towards himself and gather power to charge in again. He reared, looking at Yeti expectantly. The yellow stallion heard a vigorous voice in his head, telling him to get off his feet and help. Aurora send you for a reason. He looked at Nuke, who gave him a little grin; telepathy magic. Of course, Yeti thought to himself. Attacking the monster could mean the end of him, but standing in place while others were fighting would mean certain death. The monster was relenting, but the fight was yet to be over; everyone's efforts were necessary. Even mine, Yeti huffed as he saw a flaxen red stallion charge the monster with sharp icicles.
Before he knew what he was doing, Yeti ran towards the monster. Every stride that hit the ground, he felt stronger and more sure that he could do this. Not alone, but with everyone else; with Nuke. It seemed like the battleground was swarming with Boucles, coming from every direction! Some flew above his head with feathery or bat wings, others appeared from underneath the ground as if they had been born of it.
Nuke was right on his side, giving him an assuring nod as they started getting closer to the beast. Yeti was born without his horn, but he refused to let his usual doubts hold him back now. It was not too far ago that he had learned to master air magic, and this would be the time to use it. Time to defend his home, his friends, everything he knew. He let out an angry neigh as he send the air puff towards the misty black creature, readying another charge attack.
I'm a soldier, I'm a fighter
Take a step back, I'm on fire
Nothing's gonna kill me, nothing’s gonna stand in my way
Try to break me, but I can't break
I'm a bad dream, and you can't wake
Nothing's gonna kill me, nothing’s gonna stand in my way
..
Stand down there's a fire in my soul
All out and I'm losing all control cause
We are ready for a street fight
I'm a madman, in the trenches
Leave you broken, and defenseless
Nothing's gonna kill me, nothing’s gonna stand in my way
Adam Jensen - Street Fighter
AAAAAAAAA finally finished!!! This will (hopefully LOL) be the last BURP piece for a while and I can return to the simple life of finishing up the few commissions I have left :') Not as background-heavy as the last piece, but I really love how the grass came out but most of all, I'm quite proud of the lineless painting work on the horses in this. Everyone got a bit of a distinct stylization to them, partially by accident since I painted them one by one and don't really have a consistent way of doing lineless painting... yet. While Yeti's anatomy is a bit wonky, he is my favourite painting-wise - I got in a lot of texture to him, his expression came out really well and everything just fell in place with him. Secondary favourite is definitely the golden markings on Nuke, I love painting gold but the outcome is often hit-or-miss xD This was a hit to me, but dunno how others feel about it Pax's hairs (feathering, mane) came out really well too, but hair has always been easy to paint for me, at least when I can make it ridiculously long
I wish I could've fit in all the Boucles that were volunteered, but I changed my composition and this image would've been just much too full with six Boucles + Boss I will figure out something to those whose pons I had to leave out from this <33
