Description So the guy who originally asked for an Ultimate commission inked [link] changed asked me a month or so back that he would like it coloured.

He asked me if I could do an Avengers piece with Captain America in a very specific pose (thus why you see him in the same way in all four sketches). The pose, if you haven't guessed it yet, is from a Michael Turner variant of Civil War. Which is also kind of the inspiration for the third sketch.

To get exactly what he was looking for I asked what version of the Avengers he wanted; Original Avengers, Classic Avengers, New Avengers, Dark Avengers, Mighty Avengera, Heroic Avengers, Secret Avengers, or the Ultimates. He seemed to be more clued up on the Ultimates so then I had to find out what version and I think for line-up reasons but not storyline reason he picked Ultimates 3.

For each of my commissions except Marvel vs DC I did do these sketches first to allow the client to choose what they want to it feels more their piece. I personally liked the landscape image (the last one) but alas he picked the second one.

Anyhoo, Ultimates and all character therein copyright to Marvel Comics.

I would add some characters:

Black Hulk (Leonard Williams VII) Great-grandson of Professor Leonard Williams the former mentor of Bruce Banner in the Ultimate universe who contributed many of the ideas originally used by the Banner Project Hulk, Professor Leonard Williams VII was working for S.H.I.E.L.D. a research aiming at improving the process of gamma irradiation raised by his great-grandfather and reused later by Bruce Banner to create the Ultimate Hulk. But when he realized that Nick Fury had vested objectives for the project and that all he wanted was to create an army of lethal "Hulks" under his command Leonard Williams rebelled against this and destroyed all the files you delete your search beyond data from computers of S.H.I.E.L.D. introducing a computer virus that completely deleted any data regarding the project gamma irradiator, which was developing. When finally preparing to destroy the very irradiator S.H.I.E.L.D. under the orders of Nick Fury sent a team of contention with orders to seize him for treason to the government of USA and takes him in custody. Leonard Williams VII but was fast enough to take refuge in his lab and seeing no other outlet get himself on chamber of gamma irradiation as suspected for being great grandson of the scientist who created and first used the process of irradiation by radiation gamma genes he inherited has naturally changed that remained dormant in your body and that made him naturally apt to be subjected to gamma irradiation process and develop powers equivalent and possibly superior to those of his great-grandfather and the Hulk without developing side effects such as double personality , diseases or physical impairments, or regression intellect. Enabling gamma irradiator results were surprising. Leonard Williams VII became a giant of 2 meters and 60 cm antura weighing 800 pounds with dark green skin becoming a version black, Afro-American, the Hulk. Destroying the gamma irradiator then and rocking, with the squad of soldiers containment team of S.H.I.E.L.D. the new Green Goliath escaped from New Gamma Base for the desert. The Ultimates were driven to capture him and bring him back dead or alive. But in the midst of the titanic battle that ensued in which he was waging a duel of giants with Ultimate Thor he ended up siding with Ultimates to combat the threat of UL * T.R.O.N. a super android exterminator superhumans created by S.H.I.E.L.D. with the technology of Gah Lak Tus. Having overcome the threat President Steve Rogers realized that the new Hulk had the potential to be a powerful reinforcement to the Ultimates and conferred presidential amnesty from charges of treason S.H.I.E.L.D. . Assuming the identity of Black Hulk Dr. Leonard Williams started acting alongside the Ultimates as the newest bearer of the power of the Hulk hoping to make a difference for good that his great-grandfather and that Bruce Banner could not do. He's not naive and knows very well that is now in the crosshairs of Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. but for now prefers to live in the moment and only later to solve this. In personality he resembles "Professor Hulk" one of the identities of Bruce Banner of Earth-616 with the difference that this is his true personality as much as Leonard Williams VII as Black Hulk and he has no other separate personalities.

Powers and abilities

When Leonard Williams VII was subjected to gamma irradiation process and became the Black Hulk he became one of the most powerful beings currently present in the universe Ultimate Marvel. As the Black Hulk, Williams possesses superhuman strength, which facially exceeds 190 tons, being able to shake mountains, lift them, and use the buildings as weapons, and has extreme durability. His durability is amplified by a force field of gamma radiation that gives him additional invulnerability to any physical attack (at its maximum). Even when the force field was temporarily absorbed by the hammer of Thor, the Black Hulk's natural durability still proved to be large enough to withstand blows from Thor. The Black Hulk can be described as physically unstoppable once in motion, can not get enough physical activity and are able to survive without food, water or oxygen. It is possible for an adversary with physical strength or mystical enough to turn the unstoppable movement against the Black Hulk himself, redirecting its motion, so it gets stuck in a position where he has no escape, both Thor Ultimate and Hulk Ultimate, managed this feat physically and mystically achieved this feat Thor with Mjolnir. The only character who could have stopped Black Hulk while he was on the move as an act of pure physical strength was the Hulk Ultimate War while he was a Knights of Apocalypse. Black Hulk is vulnerable to mental attacks, a weakness that has been exploited. The Black Hulk has circumvented this weakness on occasion, deploying a psycho-disruptor microscopic nano-technology in your cerebral cortex.

Why the Avengers need a Hulk

Blue Saber (Clone genetically matured "Son" of Hank McCoy, the Beast Ultimate, super-scientific genius, able to overcome the "Father")

Ultimate Hercules (If you have Ultimate Thor also has room for a demigod who would be the "Father of all the Spartans")

For starters, I had too many characters for Marvel as it was. The client gave me 17 Marvel Characters and 3 DC (one of which I forgot to use) which increase to 22 each so adding more wasn't an option for me. Any Hulk, no matter how strong, to me, would still lose against Superman. And also, I didn't want to cross that line with Marvel AND Ultimate Marvel bs DC

How about Apollo, Midnighter, Grifter, Voodoo that were the Wildstorm but now belong to DC Comics?

My apologies, buddy. I didn't realise what deviation you'd commented on. I thought we were discussing my other Marvel vs DC picture
At the time DC and Wildstorm were still independent companies so it didn't seem applicable. Plus, the piece was for a 10year old who wasn't aware there was more than Marvel and DC anyway. In relation to this specific piece, same client but different person was getting it and they were very specific as to who they wanted on the piece; the Ultimates as they appeared on the cover to Ultimates 3. So alas, no Hulk.
