Description This one was just an excuse to draw red hair I think the profile / far side of the face is off a bit and the background is just too dark, shoulda used a lighter color (makes note to get more green markers next time I'm at Dick Blicks). I've definitely been looking at this one too long, but the hair is nice. Right?

Markers on watercolor paper.

The hair is very nice. You may have been looking at this drawing too long to realize, but what's bothering you about it is most likely this: the top of the head is too low and/or the lower part of the face is too long. Basically her eyes are not right at the middle of her head, where they belong. Beautiful job with the marker coloring. ^_^

I actually did that on purpose, I wanted a long jawline. What really bothers me is the 3/4 view. I seem to have problems with eye proportions and it only confounds my problem when I draw 3/4 views and profiles. I actually edited this in photoshop to see if it looked better if I brought in the side of the face a little, making the far eye smaller and it did. My quest for perfect eye proportions continues. I'm glad you like the hair as that was my focus.

I love Dick Blicks! it is the coolest art store ever! I think the far side of the face is off, but I think it is because her eye on the left is the same size as the one on the right. anyway, I love how you did the hair! It's not overwhelmingly red and has such a soft highlight...I can't believe you could do that with markers! it's just beautiful

Thank you. Yea, I seem to have a problem with eyes as my portrait and watercolor professor loved to point out to me. I think It will probably take decades for me to get a handle on eye porportions
