"Welcome Home!"After the family came together, and after Stitch, Jumba and Pleakley happily settled into their new island home and life, I figured Lilo would want to welcome them to their new home, and new family with the island tradition of the Lei ceremony.
"Leis were symbols of love, of a spiritual meaning or connection, of healing, and of respect. There are many references to leis, or as the circle of a lei, being symbolic of the circle of a family, embracing, or love itself…"
By placing the lei around their necks, she is welcoming them home – home is wherever your family is, and as Lilo & Stitch taught us, your family, your 'ohana, is made up by the people (or even creatures) around you who you love, and who return that love to you.
Here I wanted to show the relationship Lilo has with her uncles, Jumba and Pleakley. I thought the idea of Pleakley lifting little Lilo to help her place the lei around Jumba’s neck would be a cute idea to show how close the family has become.
This picture was also drawn because *Kahimi-chan invited me to draw this picture for Lei Day! So Happy Lei Day! This is also a protest of sorts to the Stitch! anime, which just destroys the true meaning of the original 'ohana. I think I will just leave it as that.

One of the sweetest things about the Extended universe of this franchise is just how seemingly quickly Lilo warms up to these two. Like Jumba especially outright destroyed her house and almost got her killed and yet...nothing. I mean, you'd think she'd be a little skittish around him after all that but no. Alien uncle. Awesome!
Not out of character for her but man those must have been a few awkward weeks.

Really good job! I saw this movie again yesterday, and I can say you represented each character perfectly, the design is great, the drawing is beautiful. I particularly the look on Pleakley's face, it's adorable. Love it!

This is a good pic in many ways.
Mostly I like it because it is really loyal to the spirit of the original movie. There is that same feeling of family clearly visible. It is fun how Pleakley lifts Lilo in air so she can get one lei around Jumba's neck too.
Poses and expressions are great and fit the pic and the characters really well. You did an awesome job with the coloring. There are a lot of beautiful colors and some soft shading. The background serves the pic well supporting it and not taking the attention away from thsi sweet little moment.

Kami, this is amazing and so touching! They all look so wonderful. Adorable. And so eloquently put! You're right on the dot in my opinion. This is such a colorful, cheerful, and well thought out piece of art. Pleakley, man, does he look amazing. Well, the all do. I love Lilo's spirited face and Jumba is great!
