Description
The final creation of transcendent robot scientist Dr. Light, X has a sophisticated AI system capable of displaying a wide range of emotions. Before he died, Dr. Light encapsulated X for thirty years in order for his brain to run complicated diagnostics that ensured an absolutely benevolent personality. Unfortunately, X remained encapsulated for another six decades after these diagnostics were complete.

In the year 21XX, an archeologist by the name of Dr. Cain discovered X and befriended him. Due to all the time he was forced to spend in stasis, X turned out to be not only benevolent but also a genius. With X's help, Dr. Cane developed a new breed of near-human robots known as Reploids that used X's brain as a template. Society was forever changed.

In time, however, certain Reploids -- commonly referred to as Mavericks -- rebelled against humanity with acts of violence and terrorism. To combat this threat, Dr. Cain and a number of Reploids formed the Maverick Hunters. Although the greatest of their ranks, Sigma, eventually betrayed the group to become the greatest threat the world has ever known, X and the Maverick Hunters have nevertheless saved the world on many occasions.
