Most people will tell you their dog is the best dog. They're probably right, I know I was.He was put to sleep back in July of this year (2 weeks before his birthday). This was hard to make, I am emotional.
He was wonderful and I still miss him. It took a while before I stopped expecting to see him when I walked down the stairs, or hear his tail thumping when he heard me coming (on the subject of tails, have you heard of a condition called happy tail? It's not happy at all, it's messy. Jay had it once, the kitchen looked like a scene from a horror movie).

My boyfriend's dog just passed on Friday and this comic really hits home. I went with him to put him to sleep. He was a good dog even to his end. I obviously wasn't as close to his dog as he was. They grew up together. They were best friends. But still, my heart is broken.

the ghost of the dog reminded me of my "ghost cat" at night I would feel a cat jumping on the bed and walking to my feet, but whenever I looked i saw nothing there

Our dog passed naturally on the couch. I was too scared to go out there but I remember saying good morning to Precious and petting her head. She couldn't stand up. She used to climb trees after the squirrels. My grandma passed on the same day Preshy did this year, November 11th. I miss her so much. So now I'm sobbing remembering everything, so when I say I feel your pain, I mean it. It does get better but it will be raw for a very long time. Like a scab that keeps getting pulled off.

We had to put our dog a year ago and I still miss him so much. He was 14 years old and I was 20 and we grew up together, I couldn't remember a time in my life without him. Thank you for sharing your beautiful comic. It made me cry a lot but it just shows that I loved him a lot. It's hard to say goodbye but it's worth it knowing he's happy and that I will always have the memories with him. He was such a good dog and he will always have a special place in my heart.

As someone who had to go through the exact same thing of watching their dog deteriorate and then have to be put down earlier this year, this just completely re-broke my fucking heart D:

this was so sweet and heart wrenching. We just had to put my old dog Rusty down a few days ago for health reasons, he was 10. He was a sweet hearted boy who always smiled and was a gentle -in not clumsy- softy. They really do leave a mark on your heart, and thats why we love them so :')

I had my beagle for around 8 years, but one day someone stole her :/ I looked for her for around half a year, but in the end I couldn't find her. I just hope she has a good family and still be ok to this day, she would be like 12 now.

I just lost my dog about a month ago, similar to yours where the vet said she didn't have long and she ended up going longer than we thought she would. It's so tough to lose a pet, they become like family

Well... I did not sign up for this feels trip. I just had to put down my old cat with cancer recently. I was the one who decided to put her to sleep. I bought her McDonald's chicken nuggets (she went crazy for them but obviously they're bad for her), we fed her PB&J sandwich pieces (no crust), and a whole can of tuna to herself. When she passed away, she purred until her last breath. I miss her so much. I'm sure you miss your pup, too.

Aw... I'm crying...
This is wonderfully done. I can see him do all those things. Eating the entire tub of cream, chewing the orange, jumping into the canal. I can imagine how wonderful he was. He looks like he was a happy, sweet dog till the very end. I'm happy you made this sweet "letter" for your dog. Like this you will always remember the good times and just how he was and what he did.
The end breaks my heart, though. In a sad, yet happy way. You've pictured him going away perfectly. I could see it happen like that. Wakes up, happy but confused, wondering if he can go back, until somebody calls for him and he'll find someone new who can take care of him, and whom he can take care of too until the day he can meet you guys again.
He'll wait patiently and happily for you.
My friend's dog is thirteen years old, and We're afriend she'll have to go in a few years, too, so this little letter can probably cheer my friend up when it comes to it. Thank you so much for sharing. It's beautiful

I think the hole in your heart someday will be filled out by a new dog or other pet. Someday. But I also know his memory will never leave your heart and that is beautiful.
I'm sorry you have lost him, but I'm happy you got fourteen wonderful years with him. You both made something wonderful out of each other's life, and it's easy to tell both of you loved each other.
Never stop drawing him until you feel that now you can put his memory to rest for some time. Drawing him and talking about your time together is how you move on. Let his memory linger and the feelings flow, I'm sure that will help you
Just never forget that he felt when you were either happy or sad, and he still does. So let him cheer you up little by little until you can love another pet and laugh and help it have a good life, just like your late dog.
It's okay to feel sad. It'll get better, I promise.

I got Cerry when he was five years old and Buddy in 2012... Micky my stupid cat followed after Cerry died because he was so cute... WAS... well he loves biting...

Ooh, like that. If he bites hard I do understand why you don't think he's cute. The worst about those little furballs is that they look so cute and fluffy and adorable, and they purr and cuddle and acts all kitty-like, until they have you where they want you, then they show you that they have claws and teeth. One of my cats did that anyway. But... but they're so cute... ;-; Even when they rip your skin to pieces.. My friend's cat did that to me. I even got pictures of the aftermath to prooves the pain I went through. (But you can't help but love them).
Oh! I thought one could only buy puppies at a breeder? You learn something new everyday I guess. So he's been with you for nine years. Wow. That's a long time. It must have been fun~

Micky can be cute - exspecially when he wants me to feed him - but Buddy is such a fluffy furball you don't believe it! And he's got those puppy eyes... I think even a dogtrainer would melt!
