She was supposed to be a magician but she ended up looking like a clown or something
Practise with markers
I've had a bunch lying around for a while and never used them properly 
Aha, they're hard but fun.

Aah, I think I see what you mean! (I tend to draw with the paper on an angle so I don't think this helps the problem much

As a visual piece it called my attention the use of patterns and colours to give in someway the air of a unusual, funny and excentric character that she indeed seems to be just by reading those two things and specially I like the fact you took the risk to put together squares and stripes into her outfit which in most of the cases dont work together as a good idea in design.
Technically speaking, your skills with markers are truly remarkable, I've tried to use them myself and it's not an easy task, you on the other hand, seem to know what you are doing pretty well, I love the colours you used in the shadows and lights of her arms sleeves, it's not a big deal getting those tones in some painting program and blend them good enough, but to do it by hand, it is something else, seriously.
I really dig the style of the drawing, the proportion of her right hand in another circumstances I would have said it is too small but in this case it is supposed to be that way, and it shows by its own character, love the cute random stuff she is magically creating, however the background, the swirly shapes around her, bother me a lot, I mean it is actually stealing a lot of attention from the painting itself, and makes it look as a fear of an empty space more than a well prepared background.

But it's still worth a try, isn't it? I've never done one before either, but I'm bent trying this one out. I, too, don't completely understand what we're supposed to do, and I have a question regarding the whole "audtion" thing, but I'm sure that they'd clear things up if we asked them to clarify whatever it is we don't understand.
Anyway, I think you should give it a go, just to see. I'd love to see what kind of MANLY MAN you came up with.

I think it looks really cool. I love the outfit design, I really think you handled that well.
I do not like how her left hand is sitting though--it sort of looks a little unnatural there, as though it had planned to like grab something, but then isn't. Since the magician looks as though she's a bit relaxed, maybe relaxing the hand might have been better. But, that's just me. XD I might be wrong!
