Description NOTICE: This map was made soley for the entertainment and enjoyment of myself and is admittedly very unlikely, so PLEASE dont fill my comments with contradictions. Im aware

So basically
-After the Spanish-American War, the USA saw the potential for owning territory in SE Asia and so put more effort into putting down native rebellions in the Philippines and was able to keep them and eventually admit them as a state.
-After the defeat of Japan by America in WW2, instead of simply occupying Japan, the USA took control of Japan and eventually the rest of its conquered/aquired land, besides eastern China.
-After the Korean War, South Korea was controlled by the USA and North Korea by China.
-The different territories of the Pacific were separately admitted as US states during a time of American "Manifest Destiny".

Very interesting ! Especially the Ezo; Δ± didn't know it has a different place than Japan

Thought its suspicious that USA do allows China's regime becoming a Communist\Dictatorship state instead of a Federation

Ezo is another name for Hokkaido.

I know

I am curious; what makes it different from the rest of Japan ?

KantiaCartography In reply to grisador [2015-12-07 01:25:50 +0000 UTC]

Hokkaido and parts of the surrounding islands were historically inhabited by the Ainu, an ethnic group that still exists today, but has mostly mixed back into the majority Japanese population.

Ah ! The Ainu; I almost forget ! True; than it seems more legit.

They still exist ?

Yes, they are still around, but I would like to point out that all you have to do is type "Ainu" into Google search to get all of the information you could ever want about them. I'm not very knowledgeable at all when it comes to East Asian culture.Β

Thanks, but as someone pointed out to me, Asians would become a massive proportion of the US population.

I always secretly wished that we took control of Japan and the Pacific costal countries after the wars in the area, it would be interesting seeing America with territories and states spread out so far in the world. Another great map.

Oh, and nice reference to the Republic of Ezo. That is a nice touch for history buffs.

Back when I made this, someone pointed out to me that the population of these territories would be more than that of all current US states and territories combined Having to govern that many non-white, non-Christian citizens would be very problematic. And given that, forcing democracy on such a large section of the world's population goes against much of our values. Although we did do it in the Philippines and Puerto Rico.

I love the idea of the U.S. annexing more states to the Union. This stuff is Awesome!

OttoVonSuds [2012-05-31 04:09:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Maps like this are a decent argument for why photoshop maps are generally lower quality. They may look nice, but their backgrounds tend to be rather less well thought out, that is even assuming the author has the capability to think at all.

This map has a POD in the spanish-american war and has WWII and the Korean war largely resembling OTL, except for the decision to annex Japan which has zero backstory besides Truman doing it for the lulz.

Stick to the old worldA basemap and UCS from here on out and don't decieve people with shiny maps that display zero attempts to even think logically.

People make maps that strike their own fancy at their own leisure. It doesn't have to always make sense, and he clearly stated here multiple times that it wasn't meant to be plausible here.

The basemaps and unified color scheme from AH.com are not required for the entire internet. Which is why I only browse the threads there and generally avoid the rather unnecessarily abrasive community. I'm glad the best of them have been on dA showing off their work for years.

It would all depend how the house was portioned. If the new states were admitted piecemeal and accepted some more limited presentation in order to maintain balance, it may not be such a big deal.
