Yeah, sadly I didn't bring my own Aki on that convention, and the only other Aki running around there was constantly clinging to her boyfriend who was cosplaying as Yusei and the two seemed to refuse to take notice of the rest of us YGO-cosplayers... I remember sitting there with a Seto, a Yami, two Yuseis, a Crow and some other DM cosplayers having fun together and the Yusei and the Aki just walked past us numerous times not deigning to look at us

Yeah, we were starting to make fun of them as it happened repeatedly XD especially ~jeazard , ~Jetko and I were always like "Look at the Failshippers, did you see the glance that Aki shot you? XD She looked like she was horrified that somebody would cosplay a bastard like Divine!" and all XD

Our Crow was very cute, but a diehard Crow/Yusei-fan and wouldn't let me near any Yusei for a long time until after a while she started to take photos of ~Jin-half-devil and me herself and suggested poses for us X3

She must have been a season two fanfic Aki who instantly forgot about Divine, so she couldn't appreciate you. xD Or else she's one of those Failshippers who haven't actually watched the show and didn't know who you were outside of Divine's usual clothes.

It's weird, because you don't actually get that many Anzu cosplayers who do it solely for Revolutionshipping or Asuka cosplayers solely for Fianceeshipping, so I wonder why Aki gets that treatment. o.o Out of character as in there were no cards in sight?

She does attract the funny ones. Oddly, I have SO MUCH fan art of her saved but I don't even really care much for her, she's just pretty. My friend Chan loves Aki without watching 5Ds, so I tell he that if she wants to continue liking Aki she shouldn't watch 5Ds. xDD

Well, I think it's because everyone thinks they can oh my god lyke relate so much to her because they have been rejected in their school too or something Γ»__ΓΊ At least that's what I always get to hear from diehard Aki fans, that they understand her lyke so much because "they were different too" and everyone bullied them and their parents hate them and whine whine whine.

I will admit, guiltily, that when I was younger I thought I could relate to Rika from Digimon for the same reasons. The difference being that Rika remained awesome for 80% of the series until her love interest came along and- ...oh, wait. That's no different from Aki. Nevermind.
But yeah, if they're all about relating to ~*~social exclusion~*~ then why are they fans of the current Aki who's basically just a normal part of a group of friends? Unless they see the current Aki as what they want to be, poor sods.
Clearly we need to get a bunch of different cosplayer shots to compare then worry that they're all alien clone invaders. XD

That's exactly the reason why I prefer characters who stand on their own two feet and get themselves out of shit. Though that might be a moot point considering my love of Aki's dependence on Divine. Gaaaah, I have double standards. >.<

The difference with DivAki is: Neither we nor the show are acting as if it was "right" for Aki to be that dependent on Divine. We know it's sick, we know it's wrong, but for some way it's so beautifully twisted I can't resist.
On the other hand the Failshippers and 5d's itself are acting as if Aki now completely depending on Yusei in exact the same way she was depending on Divine suddenly is a-okay and the best thing that could have happened to her and completely right and healthy.
THAT, my dear, is douple standards.
To speak the truth, I don't really care that much about Failshipping cosplay o_oΒ° I know it always looks the same, I know there are only few exceptions and those don't get recognized because they are not popular enough unlike other people who... I'm getting off the point again.

That's a story for you though - what's deemed as "wrong" actually makes for a more interesting read than a story where everything's happy and roses. If there were Faithshippers out there who actually felt that Aki's dependence on Yuusei was drowning her and wanted her to get some more space as an individual character, then I'd have a lot more respect for the pairing's fans. I mean, I think Yami/Anzu was quite appealing, but that doesn't make Anzu putting herself in danger to get his interest was the right thing to do.
...If only we'd got the "Aki joining Sherry's team" thing. Her being a rival to the team would have made her a bit more fun again.
When I look for cosplay, well taken photos of characters you don't see a lot of catch my attention first. Simple as. Another Faithshipping, Spiritshipping or Ryou Bakura shot takes a bit longer to hit me, unless it's We

That's exactly what I mean. On the one hand they're denouncing DivAki as wrong and all, but on the other hand they're acting as if Yusei and Aki were, well, sunshine and roses. While Aki's relationship to Yusei is exactly the same as the one to Divine, the only difference is that Divine... well may not return the feelings, but he gives her the affection and love and all she wants, while Yusei is just ignoring her :/
Oh how I wished for that to happen... I still wonder why the writers brought up that foreshadowing of a possible friendship between Sherry and Aki anyway.

They don't even see that Crow pays more attention to Aki than Yuusei does, because they see it as a crack pairing. -_- This series has shown us before they're not afraid to pursue romance involving a concept that was introduced earlier. It's one of the few things I like, since in most other anime, or even fiction in general, the guy and girl introduced first at the most likely to get together and anyone introduced later is an obstacle.
It's not been touched upon since Sherry's introduction. Which is a shame since all the yuri fans had their pens positioned ready after those episodes. ;0;
It's because I found them through *jacemoore and *datenshikurai , and since they were friends with them I started to look at their work more. But really it takes a lot to grab my attention, but hey, Dr. Fudo cosplay.

Crow/Sherry has a fandom? damn, if it wasn't filler that could have been hot, but it sounds like just another Crow/Carly... Dammit, why must Crow be doomed to shipping filler? D: Bruno/Sherry just boggles my mind. I never got the "They're introduced in the same season therefore they must be together" mindset that spawned many pairings, such as Johan/Rei. But Johan/Rei is cute in moderation. The fact that a friend of mind who only follows the dub and hasn't season season two has put Bruno/Sherry on their considering list shows how wide-spread this is.
Why must we be dependant on such a fail show? Possibly the same reason why we're all so dependant on a fail website like dA. xD

Bruno/Sherry is just so perfect for everyone who loves themselves a little box-shipping I mean it's all so neat, imagine everyone ten years later, Yusei and Aki are married with a child, Jack and Carly have a little son, Ushio and Mikage have two children, Kiryu and that little Crashtown girl (I SHIT U NOT!! It has a massive fandom in Japan!!) and Bruno and Sherry are married, too! 8D

Most of my favourite pairing get in each other's way in ANY fandom, just because I usually find one character interesting to pimp around.

Or if they're into Careshipping then Ushio will be married to an OC and have a son. Then he will turn evil. I saw that fanfic summary recently... In my 5Ds lovechild universe only Ushio/Mikage and Divine/Aki end up with kids, because I just don't like the idea of everyone being married with kids. And what happened to Kiryu/Misty? See, us multi-shippers don't have this problem. xDD And it makes me happy that Raphael/Yami made the list, that was my second favourite pairing for a long time but most other people think it's weird. And of course, Yuugi can find love elsewhere. XD

Same here! There's something about Yugi, Ryou Bakura and Shizuka were I just don't care for smex involving them. Pairings are fine, but nothing mature. Yuugi/Anzu is my total OTP, and I do like YuuJou, but sadly drama from a Wishshipper bashing stuff I like has turned me off it a bit.
Barbara was cool, she appealed to me as soon as it was revealed that she was the traitor. But she deserved what Jack gave here. XD

Poor Mikage does get abused a lot by Jack. That was... sort of why I didn't like her in the first season, she always came across as something like Jack's devoted but abused secutary. But she's grown a lot now (um, if you ignore the fangirl squad stuff) so I like her a lot more.

Yep, I used to look at fan art on Animexx at a friend's house, but I haven't been there for a long while. It's really mature of her to bitch about me on a website I don't use in a language I can't understand as well. xD
But the thing is - I never once said YuAnzu is better to her, I never once even mentioned JouMai to her, the only thing I did do was mention on a YuAnzu picture that I was annoyed about some drama. In which case, why should she even click on a picture of something she hates so much? And the funny part - I really like Wishshipping, and always have. Same goes foe Azure. So she's not exactly fighting with me over "better" pairing even. Her rude comments even on YuJou pictures I've done turned me off wanting to draw more pictures of them together though. >.>

Ushio has been wonderful lately, though I really would like Mikage to notice he's the one always at her side. Both Mikage and Carly have been annoying with it, the difference is that Mikage has another role in this season where Carly doesn't. I honestly would have liked for Carly to have stayed dead after season one, it's a weird thing to say about my favourite character but it would have made her a lot more meaningful than she is now.

With Puzzleshipping, I honestly didn't consider it before using the Internet. When I told a girl this she said I was blind and that there was no way anyone could watch the series without seeing that Yami & Yugi are a couple. That stopped me from liking it.

Yami and Yugi were my fav characters back in the days when I was 13 years old and first watched YGO. Damn I was crushing on those idiots. searching for YGO on google (I had no idea how the internetz worked back then) I found one or two fanarts with them innocently holding hands or Yami kissing Yugi's forehead or sumthin and that made me all giddy and giggly XD
But then I read this doujinshi authored by the self-appointed German "queen" of Yami/Yugi and drawn by a poor girl who was one of those persons who can't tell someone "no", and first it was all innocent and cute and exactly what I liked, but suddenly from one second to the other they were making out much more... explicitly. but kept on babbling all this cheesy stuff. And that's when I started to dislike the pairing, which evolved, together with my growing dislike for the author, to full grown disgust.
Ushio needs more love in general dammit! He's so effin awesome! ;^;
And Jack's much too gay and too occupied keeping every possible threat away from his Yusei-muffin to realize that there's a fan-harem after him
Next episode seems to have more Carly in it, I'm really not looking forward to it. Somehow the spoilers sound to me as if it's gonna be another fanservice episode -__-Β°

Yeah, innocently searching YGO was how I discovered yaoi as well. Though beyond Yami/eto I didn't get into it at first. xD
I always feel bad when you get an artist who's clearly been suckered into working on a long comic project because they don't want to risk offending someone and tell them not to. And that's the problem with Yami/Yugi - they're so destined and so meant to be with each other and so wonderful in every way that it just annoys me.
The fandom needs to see this, though I can't talk since I've not even tried drawing him yet.
I haven't seen it yet, but I'm holding out that it might amuse me a bit. If nothing else at least we're heading towards the end of this season now.
