I've noticed two things: I draw a lot of comics, AND I never UPLOAD any of my comics to my Deviant Art gallery! hehehe...
SO... I've been working on some Fan Comics for Punch-Out!! on the side of commissions [ie> At work, when I can't work on commissions...] for fun! And now I'm going to post them on Deviant Art...
But yes, here's the story on these
[AKA: Mini FAQ]:
• This comic is based on a fight written by my good friends, Kapcoms [Hippo] and Madamluna [Glass Joe]. I've gotten permission to draw and post a comic based on their writing.
• So you know, it's written through a Role-Playing Community on Livejournal that I'm part of: The WVBA Locker Room .
• NONE OF THIS IS CANON. It's us having fun.
• I do all of my own text lettering, including the sound effect lettering. The boxes are done free-hand [they're SUPPOSED to look rough at times.] and all of the speedlines are done free hand; basically: No rulers or templates were used in making any of these comic pages!
• There are LOTS of imperfections in the comic, I do not intend to correct them as this was done for fun. Please don't point them out.
• ... and I play Von Kaiser and Soda Popinski. I'm not a serious RP-er, but I do it to relax and unwind.
Yup, if there's something not clarified in here and you wanna know, go ahead and ask!
But please, enjoy my comic pages! And be sure to go tell Madam Luna how much of a GODAMNED CUTE JOE SHE PLAYS.

I really do hope you'll make more of these, these are great, it's just alittle hard to follow the panels and speech bubbles

Albiet, sadly the Punch-OUT!! Group I was in is no longer active. I did do an Aran Ryan vs. Narcis Prince, but I don't think it'll be made available online for awhile... Heh.
I cannot take credit for Hippo's speech, as stated in the comments he was written [in his actions and text] by Deceased Crab. I only drew what was written... which is what I'm best at. Haha!

Your take on Bear Hugger is just as awesome as your version of Hippo! And the end of the bout, though pretty much inevitable, comes complete with a wealth of wonderfully funny touches and lovely little surprises. Hippo's thoughts as he holds the belt aloft prompted much amusement, and his subsequent dive from the ring onto that leafy thing caught me completely off guard; I don't often laugh out loud at comics, but this was one of those times.
It's a shame there were no more of these comics; I'd have loved to see your rendition of King Hippo vs Bear Hugger. Is there any chance you might turn your hand to that one at some point?

Please, thank the wonderful writing on my friend Deceased Crab, who was the "player" for Hippo in the RP to which the comic is based off of!
The "issue" of Bear Hugger vs. King Hippo is actually completely pencilled in... I'd just have to do inks. Maybe I'll dig it up one of these days and ink em', just to keep my hands nice n' limber.
There is actually a Narcis Prince vs. Aran Ryan also complete. I must remind myself to put it up on DA sometime soon! Please promise to read it? hehe.

Okay, three things come to mind: 1. what is it that the lava gods have against holding the king's pants up? 2. Those guys King Hippo had carry him out are pretty dang strong. I'd hate to box them! 3. What kind of twisted nurse thinks it's nice to give someone in the hospital gazelle carcasses?

2> It's all muscle in their gut, not fat - he's trained them well!
3> If you read the dialogue of the nurse, she tells Jow that "It comes from a M. Hippo! How nice of him!"
The Gazelle was sent by Hippo to Glass Joe, not the nurses. ♥

That answers all my questions, but on #3 I knew King Hippo gave it to Glass Joe. I just thought it was messed up that the nurse thought it was nice.

hehe, actually the "nurses" for these bouts are the people who wrote the RP fight. The female nurse present was the girl who wrote all of Glass Joes' parts, why she is jolly about the carcass is anyone's guess... hahaha.

King Hippo is pretty dang funny in your comic. He's much smarter and dignified than non-Hippoian speakers would expect.

If you read my comment, this comic was drawn from an RP story - I don't write them. Unfortunately I don't have the time anymore to work on the comics, and so far Great Tiger and Piston Hondo hasn't fought, so until that happens, hehehe. ^^

It's the barter item! If you were reading it from the start, the bartered item was a Gazelle Carcass! Even though Joe lost, Hippo still wanted to share in his wealth. ^^
