Description

There once was tree
And it was clear to see
That it was draped with coloured leaves,
Which hang upon the distant eaves

Red and yellow they shined,
Harmoniously they were aligned
And their cheerful laughing chorus
Rustled throughout the entire forest

The wind tickled their points,
Added to their levity without joints
But one day as the wind blew
One leaf left without further ado

To dance with the old zephyr
Or watch a browsing heifer
Was the leaf's secret desire
As the wind carried it higher

The once vast and mighty tree
Became a point small as a bee
As the birds sang their symphony
And bore the leaf some company

But as the air began to freeze
The leaf had a feeling of unease
And betimes got pulled down
For this, gravity is renown

Dragged down by this chain
The leaf wondered if it was all in vain
And the melting frost wetted its eyes
Escaping was not worth the price

The ground covered in a white blanket
The tree adorned with snows anklet
But it stood bare and naked
The leaves had been fated

And the lonely leaf laughed in relief
