Description

Thin and firm as a needle
Is the peak I stand on.
Below me all is equal.
All the lives are long foregone.

Above the towers clockwork
I portray the lonely guard.
Within my minds obscure murk
Rests my spirit, battle-scarred,

Basking on the bonfire flames
Inside a rotten castle.
It is bound with rusty chains
And weakened from the battle.

Whenever I leave my sheep
To visit the bloodshed ruins,
Of what once was a tough keep,
And restore them with prudence

I stop for the tattered man
Who once was my will to fight.
He recovers where it all began.
Next to the flame's restricted might.

He sends out a piercing glance
And the arrow grazes my head
To drive into wood like a lance.
But no response rewards the threat.

A sealed gate stands straight and tall.
Through the countless clefts and cracks
Gloom creeps out the hinged wall,
Drops down and turns to wax.

Two children guard the ebon door.
The first one is called dread.
Its halberd's shaft rests on the floor,
The eyes are cast of lead.

The second guard's name in fear.
It is armed with an iron shield
To form a repellent sphere.
The secrets are concealed.

The chains clatter and burst
As the old soldier charges again.
So the sentinels quench his thirst.
Three dancers in the bloody rain.

I leave my consciousness
Leave this darkest of all corners
No one shall ever know this secret

Neither the sheep,
For they are green

Nor the herdsman,
For there is too much I have seen

This is probably one of my favorites from you, it's very well put together and I love all the analogies! Interesting that the two guards are children.. Is there a reason you did that?
There is so much I could say about this but it would be a very long comment..
"strange old fighting spirit geezer" Well that got a laugh out of me XD

First of all, I have to tell you how incredibly much it means to me that you are always taking your time to dig into my work! :3 Thanks!
I think it adds a little mystery to the whole thing and the thought of children in armour with emotionless faces defending pretty much doom itself seemed to blend nicely into the scenery
So it was mostly a stylistic choice. But the innocence of a child also makes a nice contrast to the fears and flaws and adult may hide deep inside.

...yeah, he has a serious case of old-man-strength XD Come to think of it...I am basically describing a weak, sobbing, old man in the first stanzas who all of a sudden is packed to the brim with badassery...
Call me the king of convenient plot twistsΒ  Β

Well whenever one of your works comes up in my notifications I immediately have to read it Your poetry is always just so unique and thought provoking.

And yes I got this sort of image of some little kids sucking their steel-clad thumbs standing infront of an iron gate, and the person wanting through just stands there totally rethinking his journey. xD

Haha alright Kash gets the plot twist trophy of 2016!!
*applause*
