Description A quick drawing of my Avatar: The Last Airbender character Kavraq. This is the first time I've managed to get close to his actual skin color, so go me.

Hmmm, you use GIMP here, right? Next time, I recommend either of these to get rid off white pixels next to the lineart:

1. Use Pen tool instead of Brush tool when making lineart. Brush tool makes the edges of the lineart "soft", ie. if the backround if white, the edges of the lineart become gradually grey, and then the Bucket fill doesn't work. Pen tool makes solid black lineart, which makes the Bucket tool to work.

2. Make the line art onto an upper layer and (with brush) the colors onto lower.

Thank you! That white is so annoying and I had no idea what I did to be cursed with it. -.-

They're handy. For example, after you've colored, it's handy to put a layer between the color layer and line layer and put there shadows with solid black (or some other dark color according to your taste, dark red fits well on skintone) + turning the layer in question semitransparent.

Also, I warmly recommend trying mask and "pick all the pixels with similar color in this area" some time, I've found them really useful!
