R2-BST is an old R2 unit. Among the first R2 units manufactured, he was originally bought by the Royal House of Naboo, and served many years in the droid socket of many a Naboo N-1 starfighter. He was fairly happy in his job, and he had a reputation as a happy-go-lucky droid...until the Trade Federation blockade of Naboo. This was his first real taste of combat. During the Battle of Naboo, the starfighter he was in was destroyed. He was thrown clear, and drifted in orbit, until a Naboo salvage crew found him and recovered him. He was returned to the Royal House of Naboo, where he was cleaned up and repaired. However, the happy-go-lucky droid was now scared and bitter. Despite being refurbished and having his memory flushed, R2-BST was reluctant to get into a starfighter's droid socket for years after the Battle of Naboo. He was ultimately assigned to Queen Amidala's Royal Starship. When Padme Amidala stepped down as queen and became Naboo's senator, R2-BST was moved to Padme's starship. He found new happiness as a maintenance droid on her ship. However, when Padme's ship was bombed on Coruscant, R2-BST was caught in the explosion. He only suffered minor damage and was easily repaired. Because of his loyalty, R2-BST was intensely angered by the attempted on Padme's life. Around the time R2-BST was repaired, Padme learned of the creation of the Grand Army of the Empire. She knew the GAE was going to need Astro-droids, and thus she donated several of Naboo's R2 units. R2-BST was among them. He was not happy to be transferred to the GAE, but because he was taken away from Padme. However, he was loyal to her, and performed his job to the best of his abilities. During the Clone Wars, R2-BST was assigned to Anakin Skywalker's flagship, where he served in many capacities. He was mostly found in the main hangar repairing fighters and gunships. Eventually, the Y-Wing Fighter/Bomber brought into service. When these ships were sent out on missions, R2-BST was put in the droid socket of a Y-Wing. Bitter as he was, R2-BST put up with going out in a droid socket. He was most annoyed with the Clone Troopers calling him "Bestie". At the end of the Clone Wars, R2-BST was shocked to learn that most of the Clone Troopers tried to kill the Jedi. He was glad to have been appropriated by the Jedi Order and the Loyalist Clones. For years after the Clone Wars, R2-BST gladly served the Jedi Order and the Loyalist Clones. His experiences in the Clone Wars compelled R2-BST to want to serve in starfighter droid sockets again. Eventually, Adira Blackstar matured enough to become a fighter pilot. At first, R2-BST was assigned to her X-Wing as part of the normal droid rotation, however Adira loved the old droid enough that she began to specifically request him for her droid socket. Eventually, R2-BST was permanently assigned to Adira Blackstar as her personal R2-Unit. R2-BST is still bitter, though most who know him think this is because he is old, and has been refurbished more than once. His bitterness is an interesting counterpoint to Adira's more pleasant personality. No one really knows or understands why she puts up with the droid, since he is old and often complains. However, the old droid is so dedicated to his mistress that he goes beyond the call of duty for her. When he is not in the droid socket of Adira's X-Wing, R2-BST is running maintenance on it. He often refuses to let Rebel technicians to work on Adira's X-Wing, because he perfers to work on it himself. Adira often has to order him to let Rebel techs help him. Still, Adira wouldn't have her old R2 unit any other way. He has long since endeared himself to her.
