Yay! my designs for Oberon, Titania and Puck have been approved! ^-^So I thought I'd post these here to remind any non-journal watching types about the fairy/goblin character design contest I'm holding for this project! Fancy having your fairy/goblin/imp type character star along side these two in a published graphic novel? Then check out the contest info here: [link] .. they don't even necessarily need to be highly-finished illustrations... just concepts
... I'm hoping to be able to post some sneaky page previews soon... but that's up to the boss ^-^ in the mean time, enjoy the character designs peeps!

EPIC win. EPIC. Oddly, my favorite part of this is probably Titania's feet... I like Oberon's horns too, though. And his nose 8)

Burne hogarth does a great structural breakdown of the human foot that helped me learn the shapes, if that helps!

Gorgeous designs! By coincidence, a few weeks ago I designed a set of the four Midsummer Nights Dream faeries Mustardseed, Peaseblosson, Cobweb and Moth. I love that play!

I made them all female in this set...I haven't posted them online - they have been licensed to be produced as cards

ahh of course. :] that's a shame, I would have liked to see them. \:]
... mine are all female too, which is weird cos I'd understood them to be guys (since bottom calls them "master" and "Monsieur" .. but our script adaptor states he's just confused and they're actually girls... I'd not thought of that before but I guess it kind of works!)

Aw, hehe! Yeah, I had probs with his horns too... and tried a couple of styles. Darn picky Oberon and his horn issues, ohoh!
He really DOES need horns though... I can never imagine a version of Oberon without horns, for some reason!

It's one of those things that you have the chance to do in a comic that wouldn't work so well on stage.. - it's like Puck, I've always imagined him with goat legs (like a faun) .. so now I get a chance to draw that I'm really happy, but you'd never see it like that on stage cos it'd just look stupid to try to make a human costume look that way. \:]

I really enjoyed doing the flowery/viney type things down the sides of this one... - I don't know if you know a game called Eden on the ps3 but I've been playing a lot of that and it shows here! lol .. I dare say I'll be using such devices in the book where I can
