A seasonal Snow Fairy Queen, completed for an upcoming Fae's winter wonderland art show, i love these shows because it gives me the opportunity to do seasonal artworks i know otherwise i would be putting off.Pose/model is based on my friend and talented photographer
Nina Larsen, ( you can view nina's website here [link] ) i used nina for several artworks of mine however this time used one of her model's Tina..

I loved this pose when i first saw it it kinda reminded me of Madonna's Vogue era and initially was planning a pencil graphite artwork and perhaps drawing her as an angel than a fairy but then when the winter wonderland art show came up i had other ideas...
It's much harder capturing someones looks when painting no room for mistakes i knew it would be challenging especially since i decided to do it with watercolors ,i think i went a bit more paler with her skin tones and decided to leave it as it is to reflect the snowy cool winter atmosphere.
Completed on 9x12 Arches hotpress Watercolor paper
with watercolors, TONS of white goauche, and a little watercolor colored pencil
for details especially on the eyes.

Nina is so inspiring in many different ways, isn't she? I've watched her video on macro shooting countless times and still can't get anything near the loveliness she creates.

Beautiful work as usual. I am always amazed at how quickly you do such quality work. She is truly beautiful and the eyes are very detailed and fetching. Love the pose and the composition of the work with her to the side. Nice color choices. It makes me realize winter has its own beauty.

you've got a knack for realism in form, if I may make a suggestion, however, I think you may benefit from taking your environmental lighting and interaction more into account. Letting the true colour of an object show only where light transitions to dark, and letting the colour of the light source influence highlighted areas, and the colour of the environment affect the rest of the object. Including reflections and backlighting should also help to bring your piece more to life.
