mine is both usually. my poems stem from my own feelings. my own over flowing (often negative) emotions. Many times the words that come to me are more general. I don't often put names in my poems. I don't personalize them as much as some because I want others to be able to see that others share their pain. they aren't alone. and they don't have to fight those feelings alone. too many people think they're alone when they're really not. all they need is someone to understand. :/

exactly. i read someone else's poem and i'll just have this random mental breakdown. its because other people feel the same pain. pain is pain, no matter where it comes from. sometimes, i feel like pain can give a better connection than joy and laughter. its deep and it goes down to the deepest darkest part of your soul. i try not to overly personalize mine as well, because then you lose that connection you can only get when a common pain is felt.
