AU where Giovanni and Nanu meet as kids.

Some notes on this because I wouldn’t ask you to guess it from the pic itself:
- I usually headcanon them with a 10-15 years gap, but the mental picture of two nasty little 8 yo kitten was just too good to pass. Pampered little Gio is on vacation on Alola with Madame Boss and wanders off while his mom is doing business, and meets that pair of street rats harassing his beloved Weedle (or so he’s convinced). It’s love at first sight.
- Fun fact: in the French version, Bug Catchers are called Scouts, so for a looooong time I was convinced young bug fans could join some kind of Scout movement to hunt bugs in nature. I’m still sticking to this headcanon. Madame Boss signed her son off to a club so he would stop annoy her with pesky things like maternal affection and validation
- Giovanni has a Weedle because of the manga. Nanu has a Rattata because he was a dirty little punk with an affinity for Dark Types (and it would have been too easy to give him a Meowth).
- Gio had never seen a Alola Rattata, Nanu had never seen a Weedle. Thus the sweet comment from Gio.
- Nanu’s stripped T-shirt is inspired by the one you see in Po Town police station.
- Don’t be fooled by their cute faces. They’re brats, the both of them.
- The only thing stopping them from being fully fledged bullies is that anything above 4 ft tall would kick their butt. But they’re also smart and always up for trouble, especially when they team up.
- If I expanded on this AU, it would be a kind of saturday morning cartoon in which Giovanni keeps escaping his caretakers during his Alolan vacation to get in trouble with his best friend/enemy Nanu, all while keeping Madame Boss from discovering the truth.

Stuff I would love to draw related to this AU:
-Giovanni distracting someone with his most precious face and acting all innocent-like ("Excuse me ma'am, could you help me please, I'm lost and I don't know where to go" "of course darling") while Nanu steals stuff behind the person's back before running off
-Both of them sulkingly drinking at a Pokemon Center Café, looking roughed up and covered in bruises after a fight. With someone else? With each other? In any case, they both drink and looked pissed off.
-Nanu running off with Gio's butterfly net cackling and being chased by a furious Giovanni
-Giovanni's handlers trying to hide to Madame Boss they have no idea where her son has gone, claiming "don't worry, he's enjoying a safe activity with his little friends" ....and it cuts to Gio and Nanu at the entrance of the Haina Desert .
"You sure that's okay to go there?"
"Why, you chickening out?"
"You wish! See, I'm even going first!"

Other potential drawings:
-Both of them seeing another kid, this one is from Hoenn, is more fire type oriented and is a precious cinnamon roll. They're torn between bullying him or trying to win him other.
-Nanu trying to get somewhere with his Rattata hidden and someone going "what're you doing here, sneaking around like a Rattata? Get lost!" "More like *two* Rattatas, uncle..."
-Nanu showing Giovanni a book about the Tapus and other gods of Alola
"And that's how they kicked the Light Thief's butt, 'cuz they're the strongest Pokemon ever!"
"Wow....one day, I'll get my own Legendary Pokemon and then *I'll* be the strongest too!"
