Description A nuthatch defied the laws of gravity as it hopped and pecked around and upside down on the oak trees outside my windows

Ya gotta love these birds. We were overloaded with them on the East coast, but haven't seen one in CA.

I do love them!! We don't have a ton of them but I'll see one or two every week - but never close enough to bother with the camera and they move so dang fast I was lucky with this one - I was sitting in the window seat with my camera and he came to the branch right in my face I took a good dozen shots and still even so only got these two that are passable due to the zipping about!

They're also called topsy turvy birds. Used to do the same thing in NJ when I had my house in the woods. Sit in the window seat and watch the birds empty a 25 lb. feeder. At the time I had a Hasselblad and my longest lens was 150mm, to short to shot.

our window seat with the slope of the hill puts me up at a second story so I'm up IN the tree

Things sure have change, huh!

When I built my last house in NJ I had an eight foot window seat put in my daughters room on the second floor. She had the best room in the house and the biggest.

I'd love to have the window out in the air...it sticks out onto the deck, but the tree is right there...

I would have been really unhappy if I missed something decent with the number of shots I took plus he being right there in my face
