Drew this back in February I think. Wasn't feeling too good at the time obviously, am much better now though. Still really like how this turned out!Was drawn too the song "Sail" by Awolnation, which is fantastic if you haven't heard of it.
Didn't use a ref for the skull and it REALLY shows haha

Really nice! I really like that you included lighting around the edge of the eye. 
Honestly, I think it's better that you didn't use a ref for the skull. In an emotive piece like this, using references defeats the purpose. Maybe that's just me though.

Ohhhhhh, I love how this was done. Especially the the lighting.
And how you basically stylized the skull into your own grand creation (yet still looks incredible. Very realistic) that flows with the picture beautifully.
