I'd like to see the completed article, but so far it's looking beautifully atmospheric and you've done a great painting here!

WHAT?! You don't like it?! I think it's amazing; I have no idea how you got the waves to look so perfect!

Ah, there is nothing I love more than standing on a beach beneath an overcast sky...
This is gorgeous. I wish I could be there.

honestly it was the most beautiful time at the beach (excluding hawaii) that ive ever had... its amazing what the fog did. it was like walking through something surreal.

It's beautiful. Looks very professional. And here's the trick question - why no shade is falling from the biridies?
Nyways, i'm being picky, and the picture's great. I can't paint fog to save my life..

theres no shade under the birds because i was there in real life, i wasnt even casting a shadow.the light was so diffused that there was no shadows at all. it was like i was inside a cloud and everything had a subtle glow. kinda hard to recreate. still not happy with the result actually. i plan to repaint it someday.

I was really suprised to read that you didn't like this one very much. I think it is like really really good. I really like the warm colors of the sand contrasting against the cool colors of the water. I'm not sure if the fog comes through like you wanted, but it has a nice effect on the painting.

It is beautiful, it reminds me of Ocean Shores, the Washington State Coastline.. it was foggy and overcast but beautiful.... and my daughters brought home 150 sand dollars home...

i dont recall the name of the beach, that might be it, but thats where my friends and i always went because yeah there was maybe 1 other person every time we went, and we could swim and walk forever all alone.

I don't know why, but this picture brought tears to my eyes. The scene itself seems have brought to the surface a vague, melancholy memory from my childhood. It's beautiful. You sure you wanna retouch it?

Somehow it seems we can never re-create those special memories. I wonder how many of the masters were unhappy with their own work? Maybe this will happen to you... I find that if I'm not totally happy with something I've put all my energy into, but put it away for a while and then come back to look at it, I realize it isn't that bad after all. Sometimes we get so focussed on what we WANT something to look like or say, that we can't see the "rightness" of what has been done.
Loving hugs,
Anj

How can yopu honestly not like this? It's really well done! The details of the waves are just wonderful. It's as I'm actually standing there on that beach. Really well done.

This piece is off the hook. I cant belive you dont like it tht much. Ima big fan of landscape, waterscape, etc. paintings, and this is amazing. Its a foggy picture, but clarity is prserved in the water, while still giving the allusion of mist/fog, the texture you created in the sky really brings out the foggyness, very soft, vivid. The only one suggestion i might make is to put a bit of shadow below the seagulls to, and MAYBE making the distant waves a little bit softer to create some depth, but then again, i was never at the beach with tht much fog, so i dont know wats going on.

All in all, good job on this piece, the waves are really clarified and still look savage, bringing out the potential intensity of the pic. As for continuing to work on it, personally im not sure if it needs any more touches, remember, "the key to brilliance is simplicity".

Also, I think if somethings are left "unresolved" it really leaves some mystique and mystery in the piece, letting the viewer decide for themselves how to interpret it. Like the oceans, we know more about mars, than the depths of the seas.

You just keep outdoing yourself. I love beach pictures like this. I have a foggy beach photo in my collection that you are welcome to do something with. Please keep up the great work. It is more fun watching your stuff than watch TV.....except for American Idol and Desperate Housewives.

im thinking of expanding this, making it a long painting with a view down a nearly neverending beach through the fog. whaddaya think?
