There was a cartoon story I remember watching as a little girl on tv. It's a tragic tale of a love that could not be...See the story is about a water sprite and a fire sprite. Growing up together, they were inseperable. Even if they were from two different worlds, they loved each other. They'd meet at the end of their lands and spend as much time together as they could.
But the water sprite was a princess and next in line to be queen of her people. When the time came, she changed into this gorgeous goddess like creature. No longer a tiny water sprite. She had to leave her fire sprite to take care of her land.
The fire sprite had to see her. He couldn't stand to be without her. So he dove into her watery realm where she lived. He traveled long and far. The water almost killed him and he passed out.
The water goddess knew he was coming to see her. She knew all that went on in her realm. She saved his life and used her power to take him to the edge of her lands, where she sadly had to say goodbye.
From what I remember of the story, the two never got to be together...

This is my version of the water goddess (not nearly as grand as the one in the cartoon) looking out over her watery lands, thinking of her beloved little fire sprite. Of her heart's desire, the one that will never be of her world, no matter how much she wishes it so...
