Skin: pale as death- a bit more pale than Caucasian type.
Peculiarities:
- No visible tattoos or scars; not even moles/beauty marks/freckles on face or hands. The only peculiar thing about him is his rat tail that he usually hides under cape, and claw-like whitey nails which he is too tired to blunt each time they grow too long. Almost never smiles with open mouth as it shows his perfect rat fangs and lack of tongue.
- Behaves like a totally normal person; if not eyes, you would probably not notice him somewhere at street. However, he has learnt to make himself look according to his high position at times when it’s needed.
- Mute. Tongue has been cut off a while ago, so he had to learn sign language. Communicates either via it – most of his officers know the language well enough to understand the leader – or via writing notes and passing them to people. Is really patient about people not understanding him and repeats signs a lot.
- Always wears mask, unless it's a meeting with allies, or someone really close. Or, well, if he is too tired to think about mask.

Background:
Little is known about him to common folk, and even to most of his people; one certain thing they say is that he originates from the Radiant Empire, but further go rumors only.

Being a half-rat crossed out his possible peaceful living in the Empire; and after staggering through different lands for a while, he managed to find his faith in beliefs into Son of Misfortune... which led him to becoming a Guardian of Silence. Crawling up the rank ladder there was not hard, despite all his weirdness; and it was not much of a surprise that suddenly the Dark Bravery chose him to lead the guardians. Proving his people a pure devotion to the discipline of the guardians, it did not take much time for Killian – a name he had taken – to become a real leader.

From the first sight Killian gives off a calm, sophisticated impression; he is very elegant and holds himself with a dignity of a real leader. His body language and face are extremely expressive and sometimes you almost forget that he is not talking with you, as he manages to explain most of things with gestures.

He is very calm and receptive; watching, listening and noticing are his strong sides. Can be pretty much intimidating and autocratic, demanding, even. Prefers it when his orders are being taken without discussion, though is capable of taking in consideration initiative of his people. Sometimes his dictate can even border slight bullying, but once he realizes it – Ian tries to apologize for it in a quiet way.
He cares deeply about those under his command, as they are his own rat family. Sometimes, a desire to imply the guardians laws on all the intruders fights his utter care about his people, as he does not want to put them under sheer danger. Up to the current moment, he managed to balance these options. His care, anyway, tends to be creepy sometimes. Ian may force you out of doing something if he knows for sure that it might bring danger upon you.
He greets all the races within the Guardians ranks; he believes that all the people are different in their core but it does not necessarily make them bad. However you can find him shy and nervous about that difference of his own. He believes people to find him abnormal and tries to hide everything that could point it out – he almost always wears masks and cape to hide his features.

Under a façade of a graceful dignity and sly behavior there is a childish, troubled core. When he doesn’t need to be a leader, Ian relaxes into a little whining kid. He loves to play, mess with things, distract people; or curl somewhere alone, waiting to be comforted and someone to hush his fears away.

Those rats are his eyes and ears; though them he can spy everywhere. The flute can also be an instrument in normal rat summoning and controlling; it amplifies his power over living rats, giving him opportunity to gather dozens of them. Can be used as a normal music instrument as well.
Flissa saber – unusual sword, beautiful and deadly… On a short range, when the opponent is totally clueless about you preparing an attack. The best for slicing attacks. Mostly used to cut throats. Has a rat head pommel and rich golden pattern over blade. Known as his trademark weapon.
“Drakenclaw” // yatagan saber – a relic sword given to Ian by Itzel; a gift passed there and back between generations of guardians and dragon worshipers leaders. Used rarely, but nonetheless skillfully, for conflicts when you can’t kill an opponent in a single blow. Has a rat head pommel, installed soon after Ian got his hands on it.
Hunter knife – a last resort weapon, hidden in boot; just in case if other weaponry is broken or lost. Then again, rat etching all over the blade. Sometimes is used for wood carving.
Throwing knives – a few of them, useful to have in arsenal to take down enemies in distance. Very light and easy to handle.
Tail – strong rat-like tail that is used on rare occasions to drop the opponent or to kick off weapon from their hands… Or simply when 2 hands are not enough for Killian to fight. Also is perfect to pick up little things and helps balancing on such surfaces as narrow rails and etc.
Claws and fangs – do not underestimate his rat instincts; while his claws can cut and pierce through flesh, if being sharpened at least a bit, his teeth can bite through iron wires even, if needed.

Enchantments:
“White Silence” / Flute / Contract – made of silver, used for some spells in his arsenal; namely, setting alive the wooden rat figures he had carved. “Grimoire Endlose” / Book and quill / Contract – what seems to be a simple thin book in soft leather coat is another enchantment Ian has in his hands. Whatever he writes in this book fades away after some time, leaving pages clean and clear. It can’t store whatever is written, and acts simply like a refreshing notepad; or, maybe, Ian is simply unaware of the book’s true nature… Contract requirement – user must wield tier 1 or higher class of magic and be able to write.
“Phoenix’s Tear” / Gemstone / Weight – Whether it has been a real phoenix’s tear or not remains unknown. The gem acts as a storage to inventory put in it (up to a certain weight). The items that are ‘sucked’ into the gem as it is being activated must have the same symbol on them as the one that is locked inside the gem.
“Drakenclaw” / Sword / Resist - made from the minerals of the holy land and forged with dragon fire. No fire or ice can destroy this blade.
“Clavicula Crystallis” / Ring / Contract – Often misinterpreted as a catalyst between Killian and the Dark Bravery, the ring is nothing else but his own kind of royal seal. It is used to seal letters and orders, show owner’s rank and open part of door mechanisms leading to the Crystal Cave. However, should an unworthy person try touching it with an ill meaning, they get a severe burn; only the Grandmaster can wear the ring.

Special abilities:
-Rat form- tier 2 / natural ability
Can shapeshift into a black rat with a tiny ruby pendant on neck (clothes and weaponry are being stashed in it; he never takes it off in human form). While becoming a rat, he can still cast his magic – the spells that are not connected with flute. Mostly this form is used to spy and sneak around. He can stay in rat form for as long as he wants, but the longer time he spends as a rat, the harder it is to shapeshift back. He also finds it a bit uncomfortable to be in his human body after spending a long time as a rat (and it scares him, to be honest).
-Rat king- tier 2 / natural ability
The curse had gifted him with unique magic of his own – a power over rats. He can summon, communicate and rule them, as well as set alive any image of a rat, be it a wooden carving or a sketch. Custom mage-made flute amplifies his mastery over rats.
-Shadow- tier 2 / natural ability
Another one fortunate aspect of Ian’s cursed condition is that he can perfectly blend in shadows, given that they are big and deep enough. He can stay hidden there until person comes close enough – 2m at least. He can’t transfer himself from shadow to shadow; he needs to move just as any other person, but his speed and ability to hide in shadows sometimes make it seem that he teleports through them.
-Cursed- tier 2 / natural ability
Being given rat traits by the curse, he now has better regeneration and is immune to most of poisons and diseases (though it takes time for him to overcome ill effects of poisons, and he becomes more vulnerable while regenerating). His flair, sense of balance and hearing are also sharpened. A tail, claws and fangs are little nice additions to it.
-Chosen of the Dark Bravery- tier 3/ blessing
Grandmaster of the guardians is chosen by Dark Bravery and receives powers directly from the legendary sword despite not being in contact with it. It allows him to live longer and be unmatched in battle against most foes. Sidenote: He is also the one who performs the ritual to initiate new members of the brotherhood. He is one of the few who actually knows where the Crystal Cave is located.

Fighting tactics:
Relies on speed and dexterity mostly; his acquired rat instincts and reflexes allow him to have an upper hand in a fight with any human. Prefers to make it fast and painless, when it comes to killing. Is capable of taking long battles as well, as his light weaponry hardly wears him out. However, strength is not his best aspect; his precise attacks deal a lot more damage than simple and brutal blows most of time.
Magic takes 3rd place after speed and dexterity, almost reaching their level, as he uses it frequently.

Tidbits:
- Was fused with a black rat, getting many traits from it.
- He has 3 favorite rats that always stay with him; Samuel (or Blondie, champagne colored), Karl (reddish fur) and Niccolo (dark chocolate fur). Samuel loves strawberries and climbing onto Killian’s face when he sleeps; Karl is the most tranquil one and the biggest; Niccolo is the oldest, and he loves plopping his paws into ink and then ruining important papers…. Or just papers.
- Killian keeps his tail under control at any circumstances, so have no hopes of reading his emotions via its movements…. If you ever get to see the tail, of course. Usually it’s hidden from everyone as seems that it disturbs people a lot.
- Is a light sleeper; can wake up at any ‘unusual’ sound that occurs close by to him. His rats also warn him if anything.
- As any normal black rat, Killian loves high places. If you don’t find him sleeping in bed – it’s okay, just look up, he might be somewhere on beams just under ceiling, clinging onto them with his tail. Second favorite place for napping is a hammock somewhere underneath a ceiling.
- Prefers green food to everything else, due to being a rat; though is capable of consuming any kind of food, as long as it provides him with energy needed. Eats a lot, but remains thin. Nonetheless of all mentioned before, he almost doesn’t feel how does food taste – oh that damned rat perception.
- By the way. Bribe him with nuts, if Killian is in bad mood – as any black rat, he adores nuts of all the kinds… Especially those ones he needs to crack with teeth before eating.
- Speaking about eating habits, or, more like – chewing. His rat fangs tend to grow with terrible speed, so he tends to nom onto random wooden stuff like pencils to blunt teeth at least a bit.
- Unlike his sharpened flair and hearing, Ian’s vision is dull – another one disadvantage of being a rat. Even though he prefers walking around without glasses, he has to put them on while reading. After using his magic, or turning into rat, he becomes color blind for some time.
- Even though he tries to hold it under control, Killian still loves touching things. Like, everything, be it walls, people, random little things and so on. He trusts his tactile perception the most, and he can appear to be very tender and sensitive (even sensual?) if he wants to show it through touch.
- Adores when his hair is being combed/ruffled/tugged/played with. As any rat, he loves being scratched on head and behind ears and that small of back area right above the place where tail starts. In return, he loves tackling with tail- Oh, did I mention that all this cheesy stuff is only for closest people? Others have no access to his body at all.
- Has a little weakness towards rings, especially big, old ones; if they are usable magic artifacts – even better.
