So my friends and decided to do Howl and Sophie and since I really love the movie and the book I wanted to join them! I always loved Calcifer. I think he is sassy as fuck and just all in all an awesome character. I decided to do a self design of him so I could match my friends.

I decided to make a female version of him because I had a nice idea for making the fire effect and I didn't know how to transelate it into a male outfit. Also Millupigen and I joked alot about Calcifer being a bitchy girl, so it was just made more fun by that. I used organza to make the flames. I cut them out and burned the edges giving them a pretty effect. I hand painted the tights so they looked a bit like tree and also made a little log that I could carry around and use as a purse Also did a little hairpiece that looked like a pan with egss and bacon!
I thought it was really fun to work with this kind of cosplay. I never though clothing design was a thing I was good at, but I really liked how it turned out! I might try it again if I find a character that I bear as much love for as I do Calcifer.
