I finished! After almost a month of hard work this is my finished product! I did not draw this, but I certainly colored it.The original art belongs to the fantastic artist I saw the piece and had to color it for his contest. The original art is just amazing and I'm such a huge fan of the Age of Apocalypse storyline from X-Men....after all, that was the first story I read in my 10 years of reading comics.
I colored this in Photoshop and I probably put about 50-60 hours of time making it just the way I wanted it. I put lots of effort into researching the colors of everyone's hair, eyes, costumes...there are a few discrepencies, but it's a comic and everyone always colors and draws the characters a little differently.

***EDIT*** I went through and fixed a whole bunch of stuff! Notice that the black lines are much darker and there isn't as much white? I certainly do ^_^ I think it looks tons better. Thanks to everyone for your input!

Wow. Your version is awesome. You've somehow achieved that 90's goodness style. I especially like Sunfire.
All of the bold, dark lines and outlines really bring this together.

yeah, it was the the same for me, I left Colossus till last for shading, and spent about two days (literally) just staring at iceman wondering "how the hell am I going to colour this..."

I like the way you painted Shadowcat's costume. It looks like hard plastic.
And your Nightcrawler is way better than mine. I think I must have used the wrong source image for his costume.

I find that most people did Nightcrawler different. I used "X-Men: Alpha" for my referance on that one. I'm quite happy how it turned out.

Thanks for the comment, you also did a nice job.
Just a few things I noticed: There are still some white spots in the picture, for example on gambit's face. Don't know if you did, but it's best to first make all the flats on seperated layers, so that the picture's fully filled.
Also try to experiment with sunfire, use some weird brushes for the fire, or use dodge and burn tools.
For your overall coloring, try to use more tones, it really makes it look better.
That's all I can say, hope it helps a bit.

Thanks for the advice ^_^ I actually didn't notice most of the white until I put it into a JPEG format....cursed lower quality! I plan on fixing that and resubmitting. I did put all my colors on seperate layers, but what can I say, I'm still learning a lot about Photoshop every day ^_^*
With Sunfire I was going for how they actually colored him in the comics. I did quite a bit of research and that was pretty much the universal way he looked. I might tweek him a little bit, but I think he's going to stay that way, though.

I fixed my problem with the white spots. The other ones that showed up are because of the JPEG format and aren't there in photoshop. Let me know what you think now ^_^

Hmm, there seems to be quite a bit to much of white round the outlines (I probably used 80% of the coloring time on the base colors to make sure there was none, but thats just me being to....um...don't know a good word for it.....
I like you're version of Colosus, he looks so shiney 8witch he should be, considering him being made of metal

It's so amazing! I know how hard you worked on this piece, and it turned out so incredibly well! The detail is excellent, and the bold colors really make the characters stand out nicely
