I really like the colors you used, and the hair was handled so neatly i love it. The missing lips was the main reason i clicked the image to view it closer and I'm very glad i did cause you post some amazing watercolors, thank you.

Any particular reason you left the lips out?

Yes there is! HAHA, I've been asked that quite a bit, but it was because I wanted to create a silhouette effect, permitting only 'a slit of light' around the eyes. I intended for the trio to be done traditionally in watercolour and painted over and developed digitally, which was where the effect was meant to be more obvious nad pronounced, but I haven't done that yet, hence the missing lips!!

Thank you! Really wanted to give a classic portrait (very popularly drawn actually) a different twist!

When I first spotted the thumb of this I thought it was the Faceless from Games of Thrones. But now I can easily see Hermione. I must say that not having her mouth was an interesting choice. The character is well known for her 'mouth' just knowing everything and letting people know. But the focus on to the eyes is very nice, 'window to the soul' feel.

I just have to say, you honestly have such a good knack at seeing through my pieces and getting them spot on. I was a little scared it might just be interpreted that I forgot to draw the mouth, but it was to create a silhouette effect and have only a slit of light to reveal around the eyes, much like a "window to the soul" to focus on the eyes!!

Since I know how you draw those kind of paintings that it was ease for me to guess at what effect you are trying for. And it would be very odd that you would miss something so key to the character like that unless you meant it.

Vaguely creepy - something to do with the lack of mouth - but absolutely beautiful. I really love how intense the colors are, and her expression.
Are you planning on putting out the other members of the trio on their respective birthdays too?

wow I recognized Hermione! And that's amazing part.
But why in hell she is so creepy??? XD" it's like you decapited her and she turned out to be alive, flied up, staring at you with her cold dead-living eyes like at the worst scumbag ? Damn I can't even connect it to her personality or any story from a book.
Not just that imagination but the whole feelings in this artwork.
Even if it is connected to her 'Dirty blood' of a muggle, I've never felt she really was THAT traumatised because of that. This painting could be rather a imagination of her, made in sick mind of Draco Malfoy? I guess D: he wasn't even that crazy about her blood to see her like that, in my opinion.
But I totally am in admire of your skills in watercolour painting , and damn, I respect a lot of your artworks. The connection between splashy background and wavy hair looks very nice contrasted to these sharp straight lines of ... kind of liquid, I guess. Very beautiful detail, the similarity to oryginal character, you really are skilled indeed.
if it just wasn't a Hermione.. for me its' much more improtant to captive idea and feelings correctly, to depict differences of humans/characters/creatures, than paint them just as you please at the moment.
Sorry if I sound too rude, I was just so suprised of such depiction of Hermione.
And ofc, I love creepy stuff xD I just can't connect it to her.
