Last semester I picked up an oil painting class. I've always been daunted by acrylic and oil painting, so I avoided doing so at all costs. But when the opportunity came up, I thought why the heck not! I'm here to learn something new, why not give it a shot? And honestly, I'm truly so damn happy that I gave them a shot. Oil painting is actually ridiculously fun and I never thought I'd say that. There's something about the ability to blend, to smooth, to move and to work parts over and over again. Compared to watercolor, where it's almost an unforgiving medium, oils gave me some sort of freedom that I love! This is a piece I did in one of my classes, and I was reaally proud of it! I'm hoping to continue experiemnting and learning oil paintings to see what I can do! I do have a bad habit of trying to paint like watercolour though AHHH MAN!!

oh mannnn I took a painting class years ago and was like...why have I never tried oil paint this is the best thing!! I havent touched it since the class but I really wanna revisit it. oils and acrylics are soo much more forgiving than watercolor, which is why your watercolors blow all of our minds. so FRICKIN COOL to see your style as an oil painting and I hope we see more!

reading your description, it reminds me of charcoal drawing, as far as the ease of blending as compared to plain ole pencils, i didnt think i would like it but like you, i took a class and fell in love with charcoal drawing, so i can certainly appreciate where your coming from. that being said, this is of course amazing, the colors and i love the down strokes of her skin, beautiful work always
