Description ~Shield and Gauntlet~

A shield and gauntlet 3DSMAX modeling work I have been doing for a friend. The gauntlet still has no textures. The shorts and mini-shirt are part of my "Everyday Clothes" set for NearMe (figure used here).

Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!

Thanks! The models meet the specifications given by the client - I don't know where they get the designs from.

From modeling until coloring??

Thank you! The modeling and UV mapping were done in 3DSMAX. I then exported a UV template from MAX to use for painting in PaintShop Pro. You can also see here [link] [link] [link] paint jobs other people sent to me.

Yesh! I've seen that! Awesome! >.<
Btw, for coloring 3D pics we must used another program, or we can coloring it with 3DMAX???

ken1171 In reply to renealexa [2009-08-06 05:41:04 +0000 UTC]

I use 3DSMAX to create a texture template. Then you use any paint program you like to color the model using the template. Texture templates are like flattened down versions of the 3D model, so you paint on them to create the textures and then finally apply them to the 3D model back in 3DSMAX. ^^

You can get started with 3D graphics without having to do any modeling. Programs like Poser and DAZ Studio are dedicated to serve as quick starts for people with no previous experience with 3D media, and you can get started right away - no modeling required. If you are on the low budget, you can get started with DAZ Studio for free.

Ow! Cool! But my teacher said to learn 3DMAX now..
Can i make the anime character with that software??

ken1171 In reply to renealexa [2009-08-07 04:16:23 +0000 UTC]

Making 3D Anime requires a base figure that comes in Anime style, and for that AnimeDoll is my figure of choice. You can get DAZ Studio for free, and AnimeDoll for about $18 bucks. The AnimeDoll Kit comes complete with a ready-to-use Anime figure, clothing, hair and props. Pretty cheap to get started! AnimeDoll shows in my front page - my Madoka character is based on her and is featured on my gallery featured deviation. This is a quick and cheap way to get started, and later you can buy more contents or (if you learn 3DSMAX) create your own contents.

The important thing to know is that you can get started without any modeling required. ^^

Wow.. Umm..
Which easier? 3DMAX or DAZ Studio?? (For beginner)

3DSMAX is a very expensive and advanced 3D modeling and animation program. DAZ Studio, on the other hand, is free and very easy to use. It requires no modeling skills and no previous experience with 3D models. It's the easiest way to get started for free, so it's 100% risk-free. It comes with Victoria 4 to play with, which is a realistic female figure. If you want other kinds of figures, you can buy them from the huge Poser markets out there. Like I said, AnimeDoll Kit comes for about $18, complete with clothing, shoes, lots of hair styles, and props. AnimeDoll was my very 1st figure and also the reason why I started my gallery.

If you pick DAZ Studio 3 free edition and buy the AnimeDoll Kit, you are ready to start creating 3D Animeness right away for only $18 bucks! And if you buy the AnimeDoll Kit directly from MayaX, he will also give you a free gift and it's usually something awesome. Last time he gave me a Chun Li outfit, and the time before that I've got a Final Fantasy X Yuna outfit for free. It may take a bit longer to get your order processed buying directly from MayaX, but you get free stuff and pay a little less than the regular price from Renderosity.

In addition, there are lots of free models and even free Anime figures you can download from MayaX's web store. Great way to get started. ^^

sweet, it looks great, but the shield looks a little blurry I think.

Thank you! The shield texture is just a temporary placeholder for the real textures. I am working on a collab with LordCoyote, Lyteside and RosaKiddy to come up with the final textures for the models. Will be posting RosaKiddy's part for the gauntlet tonight, and it looks *amazing*. Still no textures for the shield just yet.

Thank you! This was supposed to be something simple - until I've got to the point where I can't paint any decent textures. Would you like to paint the textures for me? I can provide the templates if you'd like to help.

Yes, that's what I call a texture template. You just paint over it. ^^
Want to give it a try? Your textures are so cute!
