An excellent portrait. Jim Kelly was among the few action actors to break the color line in Hollywood. Bruce Lee laid the groundwork and Kelly stepped in to finish that work. His own karate skills notwithstanding, Kelly was perhaps the flashiest fighting star in movies, although, apart from his rather small role in "Enter the Dragon," the only continual work he could get was in those ridiculous "blaxploitation" films of the '70s. Still, I say he did good and may his sole at last find peace.

Thank you. Yeah, he pretty much vanished after the blaxploitation stuff ended, kind of a shame. Still he obviously left a big impression on the world.

You're welcome. And it's true that Kelly was forgotten with the coming of the 1980s. By then, he had left martial arts films and martial arts in general behind and became a tennis coach, which he continued in as a profession until his death.
