Description A flag I designed with the United American Provinces from my alternate North America map in mind, based of course on the former flag of South Africa as well as the flag of New York City. The UAP is an independent New Netherland and the three flags represent its three main cultures: the Dutch, New Sweden (which acts like a sort of Swedish-speaking Quebec), and the Iroquois, who remained allies of the colony and joined the new country as member provinces of reasonably equal stature. Of course, this isn't enough for many Amerikaners (sorry, couldn't resist), who, being a politically boisterous and fractious people, have pointed out that this leaves out the not-inconsiderable number of French and English speakers (particularly, in the latter case, the sizable Afro-Virginian diaspora), as well as non-Iroquois natives such as the Lenape, who have generally been forced to live on Iroquois land, much to their chagrin. Of course the unemployed coal miners in the economically depressed inland think that this is just another non-issue the effete urbanites of Nieuw Amsterdam and Christina use to distract themselves from the real problems...

It looks good, but in the context of the old South African flag, the Swedish flag is backwards -- its hoist should be on the viewers' right instead of the left.

If it helps, in more recent versions of this flag I switched the Swedish and Dutch flags
