This is why I don't like Rhaegar.

I doubt it. Lyanna knew that Robert wasn't faithful so she fell I'n love with Rhaeger and ran off to him. Robert may have started a war for her but it was mostly lust.

I do agree about Robert being lustful. He may have "loved" Lyanna, but how can you love someone when you sleep with all the girls at the Peach while you believe your so-called beloved is being raped? I wanna believe Lya found true love with Rhaegar, but the realist in me tells me no. I think Rhaegar may have offered Lyanna her own land in Dorne (hence how she ended up in the Tower of Joy) and a sand steed, given she wasn't a traditional ideal of a lady and loved horseback riding. Rhaegar might've even said he'd use his power when he became king to break up the betrothal with Robert. However, I think this was a lure to get Lya and so she left one cage only to end up in another. This could explain why in AGOT, when Ned reaches for Lyanna's flower crown in his dream, there are hidden thorns that are "sharp and cruel." The blue roses might symbolize Rhaegar's false promises, the hidden thorns his true intentions.

Why? There's no indication Rhaegar was the one who 'killed' her.

Because Rhaegar was told that his wife couldn't have any more children so he ran off with a teenage girl to get the third head, Visenya, for Prince That Was Promised prophecy and she died in childbirth. (Knowing how GRRM tends to put a twist on classic tropes, I'm pretty sure Rhaegar/Lyanna is a deconstruction of star-crossed lovers.) Also, Ned and Howland weren't allowed easy passage to Lyanna even though they were her brother and friend, even with Lyanna screaming Ned's name. There's also the Bael the BardΒ  tale told by Ygritte to Jon which is similar to Rhaegar/Lyanna, with Bael calling himself Sygerrik meaning deceiver, which could mean that Rhaegar might have manipulated Lyanna.

Hmm...maybe. Do you think she was raped? She could have left with him willingly. (at least that's how I see it.)

I do think there was some dubious consent. He was an adult and crown prince. She couldn't refuse even if she wanted to. I think Rhaegar might have gotten her to leave with him by promising her a broken betrothal from Robert or sword-fighting lessons, but it was a trap and she got raped. Since Elia was unable to give Rhaegar a third child ("the dragon must have three heads"), Rhaegar probably thought Lyanna would be the perfect mother for "Visenya", given her fierce beauty and warrior spirit. If Arya couldn't escape the BwB or Sandor despite her skills, I doubt Lyanna could escape the much more combat-experienced prince and his Kingsguard.

Yeah, dunno what happened there - I have no control over my art! Hibbary's background texture helps though!

Grimmed it out in colour, it being a sombre subject and all.

I risked it being a spoiler because the preview looked so sadly beautiful. SCORE, IT WASN'T.

Wonderful work, as usual. The blood effects are so expertly...Markered? Regardless of terminology, Lyanna looks remarkably beautiful, which only makes this more sad. Ned's expression definitely carries, and nice color tone choices for the work.

;_; sadface.

There's a couple of duff bits that make me wince, but overall I'm pleased with how this came out.
