djeezzz, haven't visited your gallery in a long time and it's full of great work. One after another. I thought I'd seen them all and now I find this gem.

this is amazing, composition is great, the white bird left blank was a nice move and the absurd idea of a hanging city is something I like as well ( wanted to do that for some time as well ).
I want to write so much more about this one, but I'm already late because I stumbled upon your work and wanted to give some useful comments ( instead of "wow" or " " ) so there ya go

Go and create ! I see a nice evolution

hahaha thanks!
Yeh, i have done sooooo much more stuff than what is on here... but most of it is for my school visual diary and as such is A3 and impossible to scan. This means photos are required annnnnnnd well... extra effort and time... etc etc.
Haha, but i will upload some figure drawings i did for my latest studio piece for scool really soon... i actually have them on my computer... i may do it now in fact.

Trapped--aren't we all in one way or another?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kettle-rocking-one In reply to Gimpy-Dexter [2008-06-13 12:04:06 +0000 UTC]

haha I suppose so... but this wasn't really anything personal... just a drawing that turned out like that... and I only really thought about the image properly when i came to giving it a title...
And in regard to being "trapped" I suppose it depends on how you interpret it... for me, to feel free is the have found something to live for, to find something you really love, be it a person, a craft, an animal, nature, whatever... that, to me, is what being free means... so yes, there are always thing we may feel "trapped" about... but if you can find one little thing, one thing you can hold onto... isn't that worth it?

haha i just realised that i may have tangented a fair bit... but oh well...
hope you're doing well!

Is any of this going (as in your recent deviations) going in your school visual diary?

Because it's all amazing. You have a lot of patience with fineliner, as well as a load of talent.

nah. the page is like 15X20 cm or something... definitely not big enough for VD work... or really appropriate subject matter

haha i sort of just kept working at it... i started about 3 other things while i was doing it and sort of alternated between working on each... so it's not something that took too much patience.... just something i worked on when i couldn't sleep or while waiting for the dentist etc etc.
Thanks though!

haha yeh... i got a lot of my inspiration from chemistry classes... they were so incredibly boring something creative just had to happen in my file...

I know exactly what you mean I made the mistake of taking Chemistry this year. I hope I never have to do it again!

haha yeh... i like (and dislike) all my subjects... to a certain extent... wow... that really didn't make much sense at all... What i really mean is that i'm super happy i got to choose subjects that don't involve any chemistry or physics or anything!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tuesday-M In reply to kettle-rocking-one [2008-06-15 10:32:03 +0000 UTC]

I chose all the subjects I liked, and then still had to choose another one. My chemistry teacher said I was amazing at Chemistry, and since I'm a sucker for praise I decided to do it. And it turns out he was lying

Tuesday-M In reply to kettle-rocking-one [2008-06-15 14:09:04 +0000 UTC]

I have to do 4: Art, EngLit, Classical Civilisations and Chemistry. But next year I get to drop one (Chemistry!!).
What about you??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kettle-rocking-one In reply to Tuesday-M [2008-06-16 08:59:11 +0000 UTC]

We have to do a minimum of 4 but can do up to 6. I'm doing 5 (plus a study period): Art, English Lit, Music, Maths and Human Biology. Last year I also did Italian... but I dropped it 'cause it was just too much work, and I hated my teacher... though hopefully after this year (on my year off) I'll go to italy and do an intense language course there for a month or so and then I'm sure it'll all come back to me!

Tuesday-M In reply to kettle-rocking-one [2008-06-16 17:14:49 +0000 UTC]

Art and EngLit for the win! Music is cool (well I like to listen to it at any rate...). I had a friend doing maths and he dropped out, because it was so hard, so I am impressed I don't know anything about human biology

Italian sounds cool. (I'm just thinking "Mmmm pizza and pasta!")
