Description Second illustration for my portfolio!

Lighting is dumb. One of my biggest oopsies was I forgot the square of light on the floor, coming from the window. Not sure how I could have done that without making it completely distracting, though.

For the curious, Jo is a fan of the Bournemouth football club, and their poster is on the wall behind the curtain.

Also, look closely to see some spoilers.

sooo....when is this book coming out? Cause I may have to buy 200 copies and give them as gifts to everyone I know...get back to me anytime....

I just spend the last 14.6 minutes looking at this masterpiece! I don't know why you think the lighting is wrong because I just love it. The squre of light from the window could be casting it's light further off the scene, toward the viewer too. Dont' worry so much about it! ^^
There is so much dimension to this space. The light casting shadows across the room is simply beautiful. I love how it hits the beams and...vegetables, I'm guessing, on the ceiling.
I really wish I could translate how amazed I am into words...it's just spectacular. You neeeeed to get this published. I don't even know the story but I know how creative you are and seeing this, which is 10x better than the majority of children's book's out there, you could really be successful.

Which medium did you use, may I ask? I see it's a drawing but I can't picture any dry medium capturing these vibrant colors and textures. So much detail and little extras keep me staring.
So far I have seen, Macbeth..possibly murder or a strong female character maybe?...chalk, box labeled fragile handle with care, box labeled china, Arbor Mist, chalk drawings on the wall, Moby Dick book, poster with darts in it..maybe? lol
I'll try to decipher any foreshadowing Some of it may just be little detail anyway I'm sure.
It's just beautiful. I cannot wait to see more. I do not care what you say, this is extremely underrated and should be published!

Haha, I would love if you actually did that, although you would be the craziest person ever. Plus I don't know if these are the final illustrations for the book! I might just make a few ink and watercolor drawings. I'm not sure yet...Hmmmm

You liar, you didn't spend that long! Aaaagh because if you did I would be very embarrassed that this thing is being scrutinized so closely. And yes, I suppose the lighting could be offscreen....stop giving me excuses to tell myself haha

Thanks so so much I love you for this! You make such lovely critiques, although you are like potato chips for my ego...you're making it fat. No but seriously, thank you.
I would looove to get this published, but I suppose it is all about the writing, and I am sort of bad at that. I'm glad you support it, though!

I almost always use alcohol marker, like Copics and Prismas! They're really wonderful in that regard, because they act a lot like paint.

You seriously looked for stuff?! Haha, a lot of it is just things I thought a 1940s british attic would have in it, not anything prophetic. Arbor Mist is a type of tropical wine, they're just using the box for storage. How in the world did you see the Moby Dick book?! You must have telescopic eyes.
The chalk drawings are the things I was talking about, the ones on the far wall. I guess they'd only make sense if you actually know what happens in the book though, hurhur not very good at foreshadowing.
Thank youuuu thank you thank you thank you The fact that you like it means a lot to me!

I would actually do that! People would wonder why I am suddenly giving out books but it would be worth it XD I'll solicit for you ^^

I did look for that long! (partially becuase I was on a bad internet connection so it almost took that long to download the whole image ) That's the reason I saw the book titles and such I do not have eagle vision here! lol
I'll have to take a closer look at the chalk drawings. It seems like you are a good story teller even from the illustrations. I'm sure you'll be able to write a good story...don' t try to convince me otherwise. You never give yourself enough credit. ^.^
lol, potato chips Like you're any different for me!

Keep up this project! I cannot wait to see more. It seems like a story is being told just from these illustrations. You should look for a publisher and just submit it. What's the worst that could happen, seriously? You become famous all over the world next to the Harry Potter and Twilight series?! *cough* I'm not that far gone...yet. But really, I think it would be quite successful. You may surprise yourself.

Shameless advertisement shameless advertisement shameless advertisement
Naw, but it's real sweet of you to say that (: I am going to start working on the bulk of the book this year for my capstone project, hopefully that will solicit me to get things done!

Yeah, that's sort of my fault...It took me a while to figure out that you could scale down the image if you wanted to, and by so doing make the image less of a truck to download. I will use smaller images, I promise! Thanks for waiting the whole nine and a half hours for the thing to show up And I love stories! They are the butter on my life bread. They're all I like doing, really. And I do too give myself credit! You just ... give a lot more than me! Hehe

Actually, now that you mention it -- do you know anything about publishers? I'm debating the benefits of self-publishing versus a publishing company, I'm not sure if you know anything about that? If you do then oh my goodness it would be great if you could advise me in my predicament
Hehe...it is actually my lifelong dream to be a famous author like J.K. Rowling. It would be great, but I am quite sure I won't be nearly as much of a cultural phenomenon as she is.
(I waited FOUR WHOLE MONTHS to respond to you. I'm so sorry....)

So excited to see some more work! A book is going to be so exciting! Sometimes we need projects like that to keep the production going. XD

I actually like the larger images for you work because you have such incredible detail. I have downloaded a few of yours and it's just overwhelming, but incredible all the same. I have faster internet now so it doesn't take hours to download things Thank god.

Sadly, I don't know too much about publishers. There are a few ways to go about publishing. One is self-publishing which can be tricky, but by some chance you are recognized (like you wouldn't be ) then someone may offer to help publish. You can find an official publisher but it will cost a pretty penny. Then, there is free publishing online which I have limited understanding of. I would research publishers in your area and then maybe just send an email with a few questions. It couldn't hurt to get some answers.
You totally have the potential to be that well-known...well, I know that artist is very well known, but that doesn't mean you can't dream. Maybe you'll be given an opportunity like that someday...make sure to tell me about it!

I know, seriously. I am a horrible procrastinator when it comes down to brass tacks...

Oh, that's true, it does lose some detail...Still, most publications and such won't accept anything bigger than say 1000x1000.... Imagine my disappointment

Oh, thank you...It's good to get anyone's input I know two self-publishing sites, and they cost a lot too...like a good fifteen dollars per book...I'm not even sure if that's the norm, or what to expect...I must do research....My creative Writing teacher knows a lot about it since he's an author, so I should probably ask him.

all the details in this piece are amazing. The sculpting of the lighting is wonderful too. The room is so ancient it has a lot of history in it, along with the action in the foreground. You could write a chapter of a story on the history of this room and I would be engaged for every paragraph.

Lovely job.

Thanks a lot!
It's an illustration for a theoretical story, so that makes me really happy to hear that, haha! I'm glad you get a sense of history from it.

Your illustrations never cease to impress me! For the record, I didn't notice the light either until you mentioned it haha~ There are so many wonderful details! The little doodles on the wall, the mirror's faint reflection, the writing on the boxes... Simply fabulous
